Episode 2 – Yukimura Mai wants to be ravaged

Iโ€™ve Been Working My Hardest as Manager of the Girlsโ€™ Track and Field Team, but Ever Since I Retired, the Team Members Have Been Coming at Me Like Crazy!?

โ€œโ€ฆWhat was that all about?โ€

I was standing in front of the mirror in the men’s restroom, tilting my head in confusion.

Was that really Shiratori Moe?

The Shiratori I knew was strong-willed and competitive; sheโ€™d cry and get depressed whenever things didnโ€™t go her way, but she was a tough girl who never relied on others or showed her vulnerability.

But the girl standing there now was acting like a completely spineless kitten, clinging to me the whole time.

Even if everything ended today and the weight was off her shoulders, is it normal to change that drastically?

It was getting to the point where I was actually worried she might be losing her mind from lack of oxygen.

And whatโ€™s with this โ€œI want to mess things upโ€ nonsense?

What does she plan to do to me?

โ€œMitchy, are you done yet?โ€

โ€œAh, yeah, yeah, Iโ€™m coming.โ€

I hurried out of the bathroom.

There, Shirotori was waiting in front of me, puffing out her cheeks in a deliberately exaggerated way.

โ€œCome on, youโ€™re late. Arenโ€™t we going to look for everyone?โ€

โ€œAh, yeah. About that, I just contacted the teacher, and we decided to meet at the main entrance.โ€

โ€œOh, really? Just like you, Mitchiโ€”youโ€™re so capable.โ€

โ€œCapable?โ€

โ€œCome on, letโ€™s hurry up. Hey, hold my hand.โ€

โ€œAh, well, could you go ahead without me for a bit?โ€

โ€œHuh? Why?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve got some paperwork and stuff I need to take care of. Iโ€™ll be right there.โ€

โ€œOh, I see. Okay, got it. Then come right away, okay?โ€

Looking a little disappointed, Shiratori ran off toward the exit of the stadium.

Sheโ€™s got plenty of energy to run, doesnโ€™t she?

Then why is she so insistently trying to make me hold her hand?

โ€ฆCould it be that sheโ€™s just teasing me for fun?

Maybe itโ€™s a strategy to get back at me for how strictly I usually treat herโ€”luring me in just to push me away.

Well, I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if that were the case.

โ€œAh, Mitsuru!โ€

โ€œHm? Oh, Yukimura.โ€

Thereโ€™s only one person who calls me by my first name like that.

One of the members of our track and field team, Yukimura Mai, waved and ran over to me.

โ€œGood job, Mitsuru. Too bad about Moe.โ€

โ€œWell, making it to the semifinals is impressive enough.โ€

โ€œHuh? Youโ€™re being unusually nice today.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all over today. Thereโ€™s no need to be strict with you guys anymore.โ€

Yukimura is slender and tall, just like a high jumper should be.

Sheโ€™s about the same height as meโ€”which is above average even among the boysโ€”but her legs are so long and slender that I wonder if theyโ€™re twice as long as mine.

While Moe is more on the cute side, Yukimura has sharp, model-like features.

And her personality is pretty manly.

โ€œHuh, it feels weird seeing a gentle Mitsuru.โ€

โ€œLeave it. More importantly, what about the teacher and Hayase?โ€

โ€œThey should be at the meeting spot. I ran into someone I knew, so I was chatting with them.โ€

โ€œI see. Well, letโ€™s head over there too.โ€

For some reason, I felt relieved.

Thatโ€™s because Iโ€™d been worried about what Iโ€™d do if not only Shiratori but even Yukimura was acting strange, but honestly, I canโ€™t even imagine this girl acting all clingy toward me.

I wonder how many times weโ€™ve fought.

โ€œHey, Mitsuru.โ€

โ€œHmm, whatโ€™s up?โ€

โ€œMitsuru, we really did fight a lot, didnโ€™t we?โ€

โ€œI was just thinking the same thing. I was freaked out that one time when we were arguing on the phone and suddenly it was morning.โ€

โ€œYeah. But that just shows how seriously youโ€™ve always taken me, Mitsuru.โ€

โ€œWell, I was the manager so I could take you guys to the Nationals.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆIโ€™m serious, too.โ€

โ€œWhat are you talking about now? I know you practiced seriously.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s not what I mean. Iโ€™m serious about you, Mitsuru.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆHuh?โ€

I feel like the atmosphere is getting weird again.

No, surely thatโ€™s just my imaginationโ€ฆ

โ€œStarting today, Iโ€™m going to live for Mitsuru.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆExcuse me?โ€

โ€œY-you know, you always said that. That to achieve a goal, you have to throw everything else aside and devote yourself entirely to it.โ€

โ€œWell, I did say that.โ€

โ€œUntil today, that was track and field, but starting tomorrow, Iโ€™m just an ordinary girl. I also want to repay Mitsuru for everything heโ€™s done for me all this time. Besides, I want Mitsuru to only have eyes for me.โ€

Yukimuraโ€™s usually sharp eyes were glazed over in a way Iโ€™d never seen before.

Her face was red, too.

She wasnโ€™t supposed to be competing today, yet for some reason, she was breathing heavily.

โ€œW-wait, whatโ€™s gotten into you all of a sudden?โ€

โ€œBut Mitsuru, you were always glued to Moe.โ€

โ€œR-really? I thought I was treating all three of you equally.โ€

โ€œBut you were the starter and the timekeeperโ€”you were always paying attention to Moe.โ€

โ€œNo, thereโ€™s someone else to time the sprints.โ€

โ€œAnd even during the stretches afterward, you were always with Moe.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s because you were paired with Hayase.โ€

โ€œReally? Isnโ€™t it because you like Moe?โ€

โ€œListen, if the guy who came up with the โ€˜no datingโ€™ rule ends up falling for someone in the club, thatโ€™s not right, is it?โ€

โ€œHmm. But that rule ends today, doesnโ€™t it?โ€

She gave the hem of my tracksuit a little tug with her finger.

Yukimura said in a voice that was unusually fragile.

โ€œIf itโ€™s you, Mitsuru, you can do whatever you want to me, you know?โ€
