A Cheeky Childhood Friend Found a Suicide Note I’d Written for Fun a Long Time Ago, and as a Result, She Suddenly Became Very Clingy and Wouldn’t Leave Me
–Kaori’s Point of View–
–Saturday.
I went to Serito’s house to get some attention from him.
Serito’s mother let me in with a face pass, and I walked up to his room, but it was already empty.
“Hm? I wonder if he is going out…..
Mhmm ! He went out without even saying a word to me !”
After puffing up my cheeks, I dive into bed with a bosun sound.
The fluffy dust and the smell of Serito wafting through the air. Not satisfied with just that, I covered myself with a blanket and enjoyed it to the fullest.
“Ehehe♡ Kya~! Serito hugged me~! ……Haa.”
I tried to do that to cover up my loneliness, but the tension soon returned to normal and a sigh escaped me.
The emptiness was growing as I was the only one who could cut through this silence.
To be honest, Serito is my dear childhood friend and may be my favorite person…..if I were aware of it, I would lose control, and I’m brainwashing myself.
However, in the last few years, my shyness has gotten the better of me and we only communicate through pranks and the like.
Well, I saw from a sex book that Serito has a strong masochist tendency, and I’m sure that he is truly pleased with my pranks !
“Haaah, if Serito isn’t here, I guess I should go home. ….Hmm? What’s this paper?”
I got off the bed to leave the room, but I saw a mysterious piece of paper on the desk.
As if drawn to it, I picked it up and looked at its contents.
“Eh……w-why…..is this, Serito’s suicide note…..?”
I thought I was happy because I had obtained the material for a new prank, but suddenly I felt my blood drain and my face turn pale.
I thought it might be a fake, but I came to the conclusion that it was written recently because of the beautiful handwriting.
“Eh? W-wait a minute.
Why…..why—“
In the suicide note, there is no cause for the thoughts that led him to take his life. I was so upset that I couldn’t think straight.
But there was one thing that came to mind.
“C-could it be that…..my mischief is the cause…..?”
I usually play pranks on him as if it were a skinship. The frequency is increasing and Serito would find it very cheeky and annoying.
My breath becomes ragged. My eyes roll. I pull out my phone and call Serito, thinking that I have to stop him anyway.
–Brrrtt, brrrrt.
The sound of the call feels unusually long. I keep thinking in my mind, [Please,] but Serito never picks up.
Seriously? Is he really dead……? No, no…….
Please tell me it’s not true……
Serito is no longer…….
“! !”
I couldn’t stand it any longer and ran out of Serito’s house. I couldn’t even face Serito’s mother.
When I returned home to my own house in a state of despair, I was spoken to by my dad sitting on the sofa.
“Welcome home, Koari. ……In the end, you didn’t get to see Serito kun, did you?”
“Eh h-how did you know, Dad……”
“No, actually, I got a call yesterday. Well, we haven’t been in contact lately, and I wanted to play a game with him, but said he’ll be going somewhere.”
“I…..see…..”
At the very end. Far away. He has passed away. Those three words filled my heart with despair.
Since he hasn’t told me, it’s probably……
“Your face doesn’t look so good, are you alright?”
“Yeah…no…..yeah……I’m fine.”
I walk with heavy steps to my room and pick up the two-shot photo with Serito that is displayed on my desk.
Then, as I wrapped myself in the blanket, I began to shed tears.
“Ugh, ugh…..! Serito……no……! ! Come back…..! ! !”
I kept wetting my pillow like a broken faucet, but there was no way I could stop.

–Two days later.
I had come home from my grandpa’s house in the countryside the previous Sunday, and today is a normal school day.
But oddly enough, there was no Kaori’s prank this morning.
“Oh, yeah. Kaori chan said she wasn’t feeling very well.”
“Kaori?”
When I had breakfast, my mom would tell me something like that.
Is she angry because I left without saying anything?
“I’m gonna stop by Kaori’s house and go to school.”
“Okay.〜”
I sent her a text message after breakfast, but she didn’t reply to anything. She made a few phone calls while I was at my grandpa’s house, but no text messages.
After changing into my uniform, I left the house and went to Kaori’s house.
Since I’m often invited by Kaori’s father, I can basically go up to her house with a face pass.
“Excuse me for interrupting. Kaori? Are you there?”
I went up the stairs and knocked in front of Kaori’s room, but there was no answer.
“I’m coming in.”
“Ugh….hiks, who’s there…..?”
“Eh, K-Kaori !? Why are you crying so hard !?”
I turned the doorknob and went inside, only to find Kaori crying, her eyes red.
