When I Go Back in Time, My Ex-wife Is Making a Passionate Approach to Me, and I’m Having Trouble With It
After club activities were over, Haruka and I left school together.
“Hey, where are you going?”
Kyoka followed us. Haruka raised her eyebrows at me, but I told her the truth.
“I’m going to the movies with Haruka.”
“Can I go with you?”
“What do you want to do?”
I ask Haruka. Haruka’s brow wrinkles for a moment, then she lets out a sigh and says,
“I don’t mind.”
“Yay!”
Kyoka jumps up and down happily and follows me.
“What movie are you going to see?”
“I don’t know. I’m going to go and see a movie that fits our time.”
“Hmmm, Ryo likes movies, doesn’t he?”
“Haruka and I often go to the movies together.”
“I see.”
I have not been able to go to the movies recently, but Haruka and I have been going to the movies regularly since we got married. The problem was that it had become our only means of communication, the only thing that kept us connected.
We walk down the street chatting and arrive at the movie theater.
The three of us enter through the entrance and check the screening schedule.
“The one called “Invisible Night” looks good.”
“I thought so too. If Ryo likes it, I’ll go for it.”
Haruka and I had been watching movies together for many years, and we easily agreed. Kyoka, who came with me, seemed to have no particular objections and nodded her head in agreement.
We bought tickets for three people and went to buy food. Since there were three of us today, we also bought a large size popcorn. We walked through the gate with our drinks and popcorn.
“I don’t come to the movies very often, so I’m kind of excited.”
“It’s true, I’ve never been to the movies with Kyoka.”
“It’s because Ryo didn’t invite me to the movies.”
I had Haruka. Watching movies was fun with Haruka. I loved the time we spent exchanging opinions.
The previews were already playing on the screen and we took our seats. I sat in the middle and Haruka and Kyoka sat on the left and right.
The movie thief’s warning was played and the movie started.
The movie was a love story. It was a story about lovers who have broken up and are getting back together. It is a story about a man who has lingering feelings for his girlfriend, and slowly over time, they get back together.
I looked next to me and saw Haruka watching the screen with a serious expression on her face. I couldn’t help but gawk at her, thinking how nostalgic it was to see that profile.
As the movie nears its climax, Haruka gazes at the screen with bated breath. She was staring intently at the screen, oblivious to my gaze.
“You’re looking too much, Ryo.”
Kyoka overhears from next door. Talking in a movie theater is basically prohibited, but she must have noticed the way I was looking at her. Kyoka’s warning makes me look away from Haruka.
I liked Haruka. I find Haruka really beautiful when she looks at beautiful things.
I was in love with her. I think I was deeply in love with her. It took me a long time to realize it, but I like Haruka.
But if you ask me if I would get back together with Haruka, there is a question mark. I want Haruka to be happy. I don’t know if I’m the right person for her. I failed once. I don’t think I have that right. No matter how much Haruka asks for it, the result may come down to two words: failure.
I know that. I don’t have the confidence to make Haruka happy. I cannot confidently declare that I will make Haruka happy. I was a coward.
The movie ends and we watch the ending.
We leave the theater and throw our trash in the trash can right outside.
“That was nice,”
Haruka nodded in satisfaction and wiped the corner of her eye. Haruka had been crying over the movie. It must have been something she could relate to. It was true that the story of getting back together with her boyfriend was a perfect fit for us at the moment. I even felt a little awkward.
After leaving the movie theater, we each shared our impressions of the movie.
“The main character’s refusal to give up was good. She had a strong will to make the guy give her his heart again, and it was wonderful.
“Really? I thought it was creepy that she was still hung up on the guy who dumped her.”
“But dhe pursued him so the heroine told him how she felt about him again.”
“It’s just a fiction. Once love fails, it is irreparable.”
Kyoka seemed to be unhappy with the content of the movie. As for me, I enjoyed it quite a bit, except for the awkward setting. To be honest, I was watching Haruka the whole time from the middle of the movie, so I don’t remember much about the content.
“That’s not true. People can get back together.”
“You’re just a dreamer. Do you know what happens to couples who get divorced? You’re indifferent.”
We were the same way. We stopped caring about each other, stopped communicating with each other.
“When that happens, it’s the end of the world. It doesn’t matter if one of you is still in love with the other. Even if you start over, it won’t work out anyway.”
Kyoka’s words hit me hard. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I realize that Kyoka may be right. If I make Haruka unhappy again, I shouldn’t be with her. I might be happier with the distance between friends that we have now.
Haruka and Kyoka were arguing with each other about their impressions of the movie when we arrived at Haruka’s house.
“Well, I’ll be here”
We split up, and Kyoka and I walk side by side.
“I need to talk to you.”
Kyoka looked at me with a serious face.
