Warriors’ Adventures After the Doomed End by the Most Powerful Villainous Aristocrat 〜I Failed to Avoid the Doomed End, but I Was Saved by the Main Heroine, a Saint Who Turned Into a Yandere Just Before the Execution. Now I’m Going to Get Serious and Become a Warrior~

In order to talk about how Chloe and Vane san met, I have to go back a few years.

“Good morning.”

I greet everyone I pass with a friendly smile.

No matter who they are, what their status is, or even if they are criminals… it is the duty of a saint to show compassion to everyone.

I have no right to refuse.

Then, a female attendant approached me.

“Holy Maiden, please confirm today’s schedule.

As she spoke, she handed me a piece of paper.

The paper was filled with today’s schedule.

“From 9:00 to 11:00, there is a meal distribution at the orphanage. From 11:00 to 12:15, there is a meeting with Cardinal Marvel in the carriage to discuss today’s meeting. At 12:30, I must return to the church for a large meeting, and after that…”

It was the usual schedule with almost no breaks.

There is only one saint in the world—that is why I am needed in various places.

There’s no helping it, no helping it… I tell myself that again today.

“I understand, thank you for letting me know.”

“To hear the Holy Maiden say that… it’s an honor beyond words!”

The maid bowed deeply, moved, and then said, “Well then,” and left.

“…Well, I must board the carriage to go to the orphanage.”

I swallow a sigh and board the carriage prepared by the maid with only the bare essentials.

“Then, Holy Maiden… we’ll be departing now.”

“Yes, thank you.”

Of course, I don’t forget to smile here either.

As I gaze out the window in a daze, a lively voice drifts in from somewhere.

“—Wow, I got caught! Ren-kun, you’re so fast!”

“Hehe, how about that!”

I turned toward the voices and saw two children around my age.

They seemed to be playing tag.

If… if I weren’t the Holy Maiden, would I be playing like that too?

I felt a little… envious.

“Huh…?”

Something warm trickled down my cheek.

When I touched it with my hand, it was… tears.

“Huh… What’s wrong…?”

If I cry, my eyes will swell up, and the people I’m about to meet will worry about me.

I tried desperately to stop the tears, but they continued to flow against my will.

“—S-Saint? Are you crying? I’m so sorry! My horse was too wild…”

“No, that’s not it… But could you stop the carriage for a moment? I’d like to walk around town a little to clear my head…”

“Of course!”

The coachman stopped the carriage at the side of the road.

“Thank you… I’ll be back in ten minutes, so could you wait for me for a little while?”

“If it’s a request from the Holy Maiden… But please be careful of pickpockets and kidnappers!”

“Yes… Thank you for your concern.”

I put on a black robe that was nearby, pulled the hood over my head, and got out of the carriage.

Then I started walking down the main street.

I thought that going to a place with few people might be dangerous, so I headed toward a nearby park.

In the park, I sat on a bench and watched the children playing happily.

Seeing people with smiles on their faces is a technique I often use to suppress my own feelings.

But… today, my feelings weren’t suppressed.

On the contrary, tears streamed down my face with even greater force.

This was… the first time this had ever happened.

“Why… why can’t I stop crying…?”

I had no idea what to do.

If this continues… will I eventually wither away and die from crying so much…?

“Are you okay…?”

Suddenly, I heard a voice.

It seemed that someone had spoken to me.

“Nothing… I’m fine, don’t worry about it.”

I kept my head down and said coldly, but…

“Well, it’s not very convincing when someone who’s crying says they’re fine…”

“What do you mean? You can’t possibly understand how I feel.”

I pushed him away with my words.

It was a little cold, but I wasn’t in a state to show kindness to anyone right now.

“That’s true… I can’t empathize with you or offer a solution… but I can listen to you.”

“Just listen…?”

“Yeah, just that… But I think you can’t even vent your troubles to anyone, can you?”

“!!?”

He hit the nail on the head.

I have no parents, no friends… The only people around me are those who have illusions about me.

I couldn’t tell anyone about my troubles.

“I don’t know anything about you—your face, your name, what kind of person you are… That’s why I think you can confide in me.”

“…I understand, but please don’t pry into my personal life.”

“Of course!”

I cautiously began to talk about my troubles.

That I was being idealized by those around me, that I wasn’t really that kind of person, that I wanted to play freely like the other children… that I was suffocating and couldn’t breathe.

“I’m sorry… I’ve been complaining one-sidedly…”

Before I knew it, I had confided almost all of my troubles to him.

Maybe… I just wanted someone to listen to me.

“No, it’s okay. I’m the one who asked to hear it… But I still can’t fully understand how painful your troubles are.”

“I see…”

“But there’s one thing I do understand.”

“…?”

He placed his hand on my shoulder and said,

“It’s that you’ve worked really hard and struggled a lot…! I’ve never had the same experience as you, but seeing your attitude, I can tell that much… You’ve done well.”

“Ah…”

Tears streamed down my cheeks and fell onto my shoulders.

But they weren’t tears of sadness like before.

They were tears of joy and emotion from receiving the words I had wanted most in the world.

“Ah, wait… Did I say something weird? Um… I’m really sorry.”

“No… It’s not that… I’m just so happy…”

“Oh, is that so…? I’m glad if it made you feel better…”

His voice was filled with confusion and concern.

I couldn’t let him worry any more than he already was.

With that in mind, I wiped away my tears, and then…

“Vane-sama! You were here! I was worried when you suddenly wandered off!”

A voice came from somewhere.

It seemed to be one of his attendants.

“Ah, I’m sorry… I just wanted to clear my head a little…”

“Have you finished clearing your head? The lord is calling for you.”

“I see, my father… I understand. I’ll be right there.”

He paused for a moment, as if in thought, then nodded at his attendant’s words.

“See you.”

He left after saying only that.

…Wait, I didn’t get to thank him…!

By the time I looked up, he was already gone.

“I want to thank him…”

I think his attendant called him “Vane.”

I decided to find out more about him.

To thank him. To learn more about him.

To meet him again.

And so, I found out.

That he was the eldest son of the wicked Crescent Marquis family—Vane Crescent.

That he was acting like a villain for some reason.
