Episode 2 – The Beginning 2

I’m Tired of My Childhood Friend Playing Pranks on Me, so I Want to Date a Female Friend Who Loves Me Sincerely

I started dating Rika when we were in junior high school. We grew up together since we were little, took baths together, and even went on family trips together.

For me, Rika’s presence was a given, and I thought we would live together forever, but when we entered high school, she changed.

I’m not denying the so-called “high school debut.” But for some reason, Rika went in a bad direction.

I think prank breakups are extremely malicious. Whether the other person is a man or a woman, being dumped by someone you love is bound to cause some damage.

In my opinion, if you truly love someone, you wouldn’t even consider a prank breakup, let alone act on it.

In other words, my presence had faded from her heart. She always said she loved me at the end of the prank, but I had stopped believing her.

She kept doing it every week. My senses must have been off. After Kagumo-san told me, my mind was made up.

“Let’s break up.”

“Finally…”

“Eh?”

“What’s wrong?”

“Didn’t you just say something?”

“No, maybe you’re just imagining things, Ayato-kun?”

“Really?”

It sounded like she murmured something in a small voice, but it must have been my imagination. Well, it’s lunch break now, so maybe I just heard it from somewhere.

“When are you going to tell her?”

“I guess it’s better to do it sooner rather than later.”

I think it’s better to break up sooner rather than later, both for my sake and for Kagumo-san’s sake, who was worried about me.

Rika is hanging out with a frivolous guy, so she won’t be bored even if she breaks up with me. Rumor has it that Rika is quite popular with boys.

“How about after school today?”

“That’s pretty soon. Can I come with you?”

“Why?”

“Just in case something weird happens, I want to be able to run away quickly.”

“What do you mean, something weird?”

Nothing will happen. I’m just going to tell her we’re breaking up. The current Rika will probably respond right away. Couples who don’t share the same feelings can’t succeed.

Rika and I just didn’t click anymore, so it’s better to break up quickly so we can move on.

I think that’s a pretty good example, don’t you?

“What if she gets angry?”

“I think it’ll be fine.”

“No, I’m worried, so let me come with you.”

“Hmm…”

What about bringing another girl to the breakup scene? It feels like I’m confessing that I’m tired of you and will be dating her from now on.

Maybe I’m overthinking it.

“It’s okay, I’m not going to stand next to you.”

She says she’ll just listen quietly outside the classroom. If something happens to me, she’ll come running.

Well, I don’t think anything will happen, but it’s better to have someone close by. For some reason, what Kagumo san says is surprisingly convincing.

“I understand. I don’t think anything will happen, so you don’t have to worry too much, okay?”

“Yeah, I understand.”

“Then, see you after school.”
