I’m Tired of My Childhood Friend Playing Pranks on Me, so I Want to Date a Female Friend Who Loves Me Sincerely
Rika and I were separated into different classes for the first time in high school. We had been in the same class since elementary school until we graduated from junior high school, so it’s hard not to think that some kind of force was at work.
Even now, in our second year of high school, Rika and I are still in different classes, so maybe God was manipulating things.
I became friends with Nagiri after we were put in the same class in our second year.
I don’t remember why we became friends.
Maybe it’s a common thing among students that you don’t remember how you became close with your best friends.
“Hey, Ayato.”
“What?”
It was lunchtime, time to eat lunch. I suddenly wondered why, since entering high school, there was no distinction between lunch time and recess.
This reduces our oasis time. Moderate breaks are necessary for studying. Right after eating, I get sleepy, so I can’t concentrate in class after lunch break.
“Want to go to the rooftop?”
“Why?”
“To eat lunch, of course.”
“You usually eat with your friends, don’t you?”
“Well… I was being considerate. But there’s no need for that anymore.”
“Considerate? About what?”
“You’re too insensitive idiot. You’re too naive to understand.”
She’s really dissing me. Insensitive? Well, if you usually eat with different people and suddenly someone asks you to eat together, you’re going to be suspicious, right?
“Then let’s go… What?!”
Suddenly, the classroom becomes noisy. Everyone is staring at the hallway, looking surprised.
“Why is this person here?”
“Who is she looking for?”
The boys in particular seem excited, their cheeks flushed.
I’m talking to Nagiri san, so I have my back to the hallway and can’t see what’s going on.
“Haaa, this is such a hassle.”
“Did someone come?”
“Go see for yourself.”
“You’re right.”
Out of curiosity, I turned my face toward the person everyone was staring at.
“Rika?”
It was my childhood friend, Rika, standing in the hallway. When I turned around, our eyes met, and I could tell she had been staring at me the whole time.
She wasn’t smiling at all. It wasn’t just my imagination that she looked angry. After spending so many years together, I could tell what she was thinking just by looking at her.
“Why is she here? This has never happened before.”
“Come to think of it, she said she cut ties with those frivolous guys…”
I averted my gaze from Rika and turned back toward Nagiri.
“Ha, Are you kidding me?”
“It’s true. This morning, Rika, who’s never around, approached me and told me all sorts of things.”
“I was wondering why she was with you in the morning, but I never imagined something like this was going on.”
