Episode 66 – Studying Together 2

I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life

โ€œSo that’s how the answer works out, huh?โ€

โ€œReally?! Thank you so much, Seito-senpai!!โ€

Quite a bit of time had already passed since the study session began.

To be honest, I’d basically been teaching the whole time, but I’d still managed to get some of my own studying done.

Well, when I say โ€œteaching the whole time,โ€ it was mainly just Kana, though.

Since her last test, Kana seems to be studying properly at school too, so teaching her is easier than last time.

That said, her fundamentals are still a bit weak, and she struggles with application, so I still feel like there’s a lot to teach her.

Also, like I thought last time, she absorbs what I teach her really quickly. That part is truly amazing.

โ€œYou’re really amazing. This is my first time studying with Kisaragi-kun, but you’re such a great teacher. It was super easy to understand.โ€

Compared to Kana, I haven’t taught Saki nearly as much, but I have tutored her a few times.

Saki has such solid fundamentals that she gets it on the first try, making teaching her incredibly easy. It really shows she studies diligently all the time.

โ€œI don’t know if I’m a good teacher thoughโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYou’re really good at it, though?โ€

โ€œYeah. Listening in from beside you, I thought your explanations were incredibly clear. You seem to grasp the key points better than I do, explaining them simply and conciselyโ€ฆ Honestly, it’s frustrating, but you’re really something.โ€

Miku, who’d been listening to our conversation beside us, said this with a slightly bitter tone.

I wasn’t really aware of that myself, but if even Miku said so, it must be true.

Hearing that made me feel a little pleased.

โ€œI see. But Suzukaze was teaching really clearly too, right?โ€

โ€œWell, I’m used to it.โ€

Miku said that, but this was actually the first time I’d seen her teaching Kana and Saki, and she really was clear.

Miku said I was betterโ€ฆ

“From my perspective, you’re both equally good. I’ve always felt that way about you, Miku-chan, but today, both of you have really helped me out.”

โ€œYeah, you’re both super amazing!โ€

โ€œWell, yeah, there’s really no point in comparing who’s better. But doesn’t Suzukaze have any parts she doesn’t understand?โ€

I hadn’t taught Miku anything new in the last few hours.

โ€œHmmโ€ฆ not exactly, but is it okay if I ask?โ€

โ€œOf course.โ€

As soon as I said that and moved next to Miku, Saki seemed to get a message. Seeing it, she said,

โ€œGuys, sorry about this. Looks like Mom forgot her wallet and went shopping anyway, so I’m going to bring it to her.โ€

โ€œShopping? That supermarket over there?โ€

“Yeah, I think so. Mom’s pretty scatterbrained, so stuff like this happens sometimes. Miku and Kana probably know what I mean.”

โ€œI seeโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYeah. So I’ll be stepping out for a bit, but you guys can keep going.โ€

โ€œAh! Then I’ll come with you, Saki! Our drinks are almost gone anyway, so it’s perfect timing!โ€

It was trueโ€”the drinks we’d each brought were nearly finished.

“If that’s the case, I could handle it alone? Mom’s here too, after all.”

โ€œNah. It’ll be a nice break from studying, so I figured it’d be perfectโ€ฆโ€

โ€œfufufu, I knew it. But that’ll leave just the two of you at home. Are you guys okay with that?โ€

โ€œWe’re fine, Saki-nee! Besides, it looks like he’s about to tutor Miku-nee now. Let’s go before we interrupt!!โ€

Saki was nudged by Kana and left the room.

โ€œKana, you’ll never change that impulsive part of youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWell, isn’t that also one of Kana’s good points?โ€

โ€œI suppose so.โ€

โ€œAnyway, what part don’t you understand?โ€

โ€œUm, it’s math I’m doing now, but it’s this part here.โ€

โ€œI see. This part is indeed pretty tricky. Let’s seeโ€ฆโ€

Then I explained that section.

โ€œWow, you really get itโ€ฆ Thanks a lot.โ€

โ€œDid you understand?โ€

โ€œYeah. I totally got it. Normally, I’d ask the teacher about stuff I don’t understand, but asking someone in my own grade is way easier and nicer.โ€

โ€œYeah, that makes sense. It’s totally different how relaxed you feel asking a teacher versus a classmate. From now on, you can ask me instead of the teacher.โ€

โ€œYou’re rightโ€ฆ With you, Kisaragi, I feel like I could understand anything.โ€

โ€œYou seem pretty confident about that.โ€

I said it with confidence.

โ€œI appreciate it, but it still stingsโ€ฆ or at least that’s what I think. But honestly, if it’s against Kisaragi, I don’t even mind losing.โ€

โ€œWhy’s that?โ€

โ€œThat’s exactly what I want to know.โ€

โ€œSuzukaze?โ€

โ€œIs something wrong?โ€

โ€œIf it’s okay with you, Suzukaze, can I call you by your first name from now on?โ€

I’d wanted to say this for a while now, whether it was to Miku or Saki.

With Kana, she pretty much always took the initiative, so this time I wanted to make the first move.

Calling each other by our first names was that first step.

โ€œf-first name?โ€

โ€œYeah. It’s fine if you call me Seito too, if that’s okay?โ€

โ€œโ€ฆIt’s not that I don’t want toโ€ฆโ€

Miku said this in a small voice, her face flushed.

โ€œI see. Well then, starting today, I won’t call you Suzukaze anymore. I’ll call you Miku.โ€

When I said this, smiling at Miku’s face, she buried her face in the desk.

โ€œWhat’s wrong, Miku?โ€

โ€œN-nothingโ€ฆ Just give me a momentโ€ฆโ€

โ€œAlright.โ€

As I said that, I noticed her ears were bright red.

โ€•โ€•A few minutes later, Miku lifted her face.

Her cheeks and ears were still slightly red, but she seemed much calmer than before.

โ€œAre you okay now?โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean โ€˜calm downโ€™โ€ฆ I wasn’t panicking or anything.โ€

โ€œHahaha, right. More importantly, Miku, you’ll call me by my name too, right?โ€

I said it with a hint of teasing.

โ€œI-I knowโ€ฆ S-Seito is fine, right?โ€

โ€œFine is fine? You don’t want to call me by my name?โ€

โ€œO-of course not thatโ€ฆ But please wait until tomorrow to call me that in front of Kana and Sakiโ€ฆ I’m still a littleโ€ฆ wellโ€ฆโ€

Miku, who I thought had calmed down earlier, was blushing again.

Wondering if I’d teased her a bit too much, I said.

โ€œAlright then, I’ll start calling you that in front of them tomorrow.โ€

โ€œTh-thank you, that’d be a big helpโ€ฆโ€

โ€œGot it, Miku.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆThere! Now get back to studying, Seito!!โ€

Miku said this, her face still flushed, then turned toward her textbooks and started moving her mechanical pencil.

โ€œHaha, yeah, you’re right.โ€

A little over ten minutes later, Kana and Saki came back.
