Episode 76 – Dinner with the Hiiragi Family 2

I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life

After the four of us arrived at our destination restaurant, we entered the reserved private room. The food had already been delivered and was ready to eat.

By the way, as a side note from what Gaku san told us on the way, one reason he chose this place was that it’s run by one of his high school classmates.

Of course, being classmates didn’t mean he got a discount or anything like that. But they still went out drinking together and seemed to be good friends. He said they used this place for special occasions, important days, and even for business gatherings.

It had private rooms and a nice atmosphere, so it really was just right.

As I was thinking about that, Gaku-san said,

โ€œWell then, shall we eat?โ€

โ€œYeah, Dad.โ€

“”โ€œLet’s eat!โ€””

And so we began eating.

The dishes served were apparently high-end cuts of meat, the kind we wouldn’t normally eat. They were beautifully plated, smelled incredible, and just looking at the juices made them look delicious.

Honestly though, in my past life, I’d never eaten such expensive food, so my knowledge of premium ingredients and meats was practically zero.

Even Kisaragi Seito before my reincarnation didn’t seem interested in expensive foodโ€ฆ I thought to myself, taking a bite of the meat.

The taste was, of course, incredibly delicious. It was juicy and incredibly tenderโ€ฆ Maybe it’s because I know it’s expensive meat, but it was truly deliciousโ€ฆ Yeah, it was really delicious, and I could see why it was expensive, but that was all I could think to say.

Guess I’m hopeless at food reviewsโ€ฆ I was thinking such pointless thoughts when Harumi-san spoke up.

โ€œSpeaking of which, Saki? Is that thing going to be okay?โ€

โ€œIt’s fine. Nothing’s different from usual, really.โ€

โ€œBut isn’t it about time?โ€

โ€œYeah, I guess so.โ€

What thing? I wondered, about to ask, when Gaku-san said.

โ€œYou two wouldn’t know what โ€˜that thingโ€™ is, would you, Seito-kun?โ€

โ€œTrue. Well, since you know, Seito-kun, I’ll tell you. Himezaki Ruruka’s about to hit a million subscribers soon.โ€

Hearing that, I remembered it was true.

It was exam season, so I deliberately avoided mentioning it, but I had been studying a bit on my own, separate from studying with the three of them. And during that studying, I had sometimes listened to Himezaki Ruruka’s songs.

Back then, when I glanced at it, I remember thinking, โ€œIt’s already over 900,000!โ€

Considering how her activity frequency has varied and dropped a bit, it’s really amazing.

โ€œI seeโ€ฆ So that’s what this is about?โ€

โ€œYeah. Since it’s a million subscribers, I did wonder if I should do something more special? But there’s only so much you can do at home, and with everything that happened before, I hadn’t really prepared anything. So in the end, I decided to just do a commemorative song livestream like usual.โ€

By โ€œvarious things,โ€ she obviously meant that stalker incident.

Because of that, Saki decided to keep doing activities, but only at home. Well, she never really did activities outside the house to begin with, but this just reinforced that feeling. Even if there were opportunities to make merchandise, at least until Saki turns 18, it’ll definitely be managed by Gaku-san and Harumi-san.

Well, I think that’s the safe and sensible choice while she’s still a minor.

So, she won’t be doing activities outside her own home, but that definitely limits what she can do. Honestly, the only thing I can think of is singing.

That’s what I’m thinking, but from a fan’s perspective, wouldn’t it be amazing if she just did her usual commemorative livestream and let us hear her sing? I mean, that’s why we go to hear Himezaki Ruruka sing.

โ€œSeito-kun, is there anything you’d like her to do?โ€

Suddenly asked that, I honestly couldn’t think of anything off the top of my head.

Of course, if those words had been directed at Hiiragi Saki instead of Himezaki Ruruka, I’d want to get closer to her and my thoughts would be differentโ€ฆ

But even before that, I basically don’t watch any other Vtubers or streamers besides Himezaki Ruruka.

That was the same in my past life, and even before reincarnation, Kisaragi Seito was the same. So, I don’t know anything about that culture at all. I figured I probably didn’t have anything to say about this matter.

So, I decided not to suggest anything, but just say what I was thinking.

“Things I want you to doโ€ฆ I can’t think of anything specific, but, wellโ€ฆ Since I don’t watch any Vtubers or streamers besides Himezaki Ruruka, I don’t know what everyone else does, but from a fan’s perspective, I think it’d be more than enough to just have her stream a song as a commemorative gift. So, wouldn’t it be enough for Saki to just express her gratitude by doing what she always doesโ€”staying true to herself and delivering the songs she wants to share? Well, that’s just my personal opinion, and I don’t know how other fans feel about it.”

It’s definitely a joyous occasion, but what Saki wants to deliver is her songs. Honestly, seeing her do what she wants to do is probably what makes fans happiest.

When I said that, Harumi-san and Gaku-san chuckled softly, so I looked over at them, wondering what was up.

โ€œHahaha, just as I heard, Seito-kun really is a fan of Himezaki Ruruka, isn’t he?โ€

โ€œExactly. I told you I heard it directly.โ€

โ€œUm, is something wrong?โ€

They said this with smiles, so I asked.

โ€œSaki is definitely a celebrity, even as a VTuber. With that status, and what happenedโ€ฆ we can’t help but worry, you knowโ€ฆ But seeing you, Seito-kun, I realized again that even if you knew Himezaki Ruruka was Saki, you’d never misuse that information.โ€

Back then, Gaku-san was really depressed, partly because he felt it was his fault.

Looking back now, if I’d been in Gaku-san’s position, after what happened, even if I was the one who helped her, knowing Himezaki Ruruka’s true identity, I couldn’t say I wouldn’t be worried at all.

Of course, I never sensed that vibe from Gaku-san at all, but maybe somewhere deep down, he was worried after all.

Well, it doesn’t seem like that’s the case now, so it should be fine.

โ€œOf course it is.โ€

After I replied to Gaku-san’s words, this time Harumi-san smiled happily and said.

โ€œHehehe, Seito-kun would help Saki if anything happened to her, right?โ€

โ€œThat goes without saying.โ€

โ€œI might be repeating myself, but please take good care of Saki, Seito-kun.โ€

As always, Harumi-san said this with a cheerful smile, and it was true she’d said it many times before.

But I thought it simply meant she wanted me to help Saki if anything happenedโ€ฆ nothing more, nothing lessโ€ฆ until now.

But what about now? Seeing the two of them together, it’s obviously wonderful news, but somehow it also feels like they want us to stick around. Well, I thought the same thing in the car, and if that’s the case, I’d be happy about it, so maybe it’s not something I should worry too much aboutโ€ฆ But they seem to trust us way too much. It’s nice, but it’s also a bit surprising sometimes.

Maybe it’s not the best comparison, but they’ve only just met me, yet they’re asking meโ€”not Nanashima, who’s been with them nearly ten yearsโ€”to protect their daughterโ€ฆ

Thinking that, I still replied.

โ€œPlease leave Saki-san to me from now on.โ€

โ€œFufu, I’ll count on you.โ€

โ€œHahahaha. Well then, go ahead and eat as much as you want. If there’s anything else you’d like, just ask.โ€

โ€œThat’s right. Eat up.โ€

โ€œThank you.โ€

As the two of them laughed, I glanced over at Saki. She’d been listening silently, and now she was eating her rice with a slightly flushed face.

Well, since I’m at this fancy restaurant anyway, I should really enjoy the meal properly.
