I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life

“Hey, Tsubasa, what’s up?”
“Oh, I just remembered I forgot to tell you earlier—wanna play some games together when you get home tonight? What do you say? Got time?”
I called Seiya after hanging out at the arcade with him and a few other guys.
I forgot to mention it earlier, but I’m free tonight and in the mood for gaming. I could play alone if I had to, but I’d rather play with someone.
“Sure, what’re we playing?”
“Hmm, well… I haven’t played much FPS lately, partly because of the event, so maybe something like that. I really feel like playing multiplayer.”
“Okay. So, how about a battle royale?”
“Sounds good. So, around 9 PM tonight works for you? I wanna get home, take a bath, eat dinner, and then play. You probably wanna do the same.”
“Yeah. Should we invite one more person?”
“Might as well have a full party. That’d be nice.”
“Alright, I’ll put up a group chat invite for one more person.”
“Alright, thanks.”
“Leave it to me. Anyway, I’m heading home now. Talk to you later.”
“Yeah, later.”
And so I ended my call with Seiya.
“Alright.”
At least tonight won’t be boring.
“But seriously, I’ve been playing nothing but games lately…”
Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing, but since Seiya and the others mentioned it, I started feeling a little self-conscious.
I’ve always liked games, so I played a lot back in middle school too. But even then, I didn’t play as much as I do now because Miku and the others were around…
Well, Miku was always nagging me about playing too much, and we did hang out together sometimes, so I guess it’s only natural.
“Come to think of it, what were those guys doing today, I wonder…”
I actually asked Miku to hang out today, but she turned me down… Said she was going out with Saki and the others.
If it had just been Saki, I might have gone too, but since Kana was there as well, I couldn’t really go, so I gave up. What were they doing, I wonder?
Well, if those three went out together, it’s probably shopping.
Those three, especially Kana, have always loved shopping… Even though three outfits should be plenty for regular clothes, she’d buy a lot under the pretense of being fashionable…
“Come to think of it, what are they gonna do for summer break?”
Summer break means a time when you can play games freely.
Because of that, I basically stay cooped up at home most of the time, but last year I actually went to places like the arcade with Miku and the others quite a bit.
I politely declined summer festivals and the beach though… Honestly, festivals are too crowded and exhausting, and I just don’t get what’s fun about the beach. If you want to swim, a pool is fine, right? I don’t get why people bother going all the way out there.
Of course, I want to play tons of games, but I also want to make time to hang out with Miku and Saki…
Once summer break starts, they’ll both have plenty of free time, and I can’t say I don’t think spending every day just gaming is getting a bit excessive, so it should work out perfectly.
“Miku… still not home yet?”
On my way back, I passed by Miku’s house. When I got to a spot where I could see her place clearly, I looked up at her room, but the lights weren’t on yet.
The last time I went to Miku’s house was back in elementary school, but surely her room hasn’t changed. Well, she could be in another room, I guess.
Then, after passing her house, I thought I heard Miku’s voice and turned around. It was dark and hard to see, but I spotted a figure that looked like her back.
It was too dark to see clearly, but that was definitely Miku.
But…
“Miku… and that other person?”
I said that and stopped.
I’ve seen Miku countless times, so I know it’s her.
But who was that other figure?
It was getting dark, and my eyes aren’t that great, so I couldn’t tell for sure, but judging by the height of the figure, it was a man. He looked well-built too, so I was pretty sure.
“Who… is that?”
Miku said she was going to hang out with Saki and the others today, and I confirmed that with Saki, so that part was definitely true.
If she was walking with Saki and the others, that would be one thing, but why with a guy?
At that moment, a certain man popped into my head.
Height-wise, it fits… She did say Kana was coming too today… But could that really be it?
If Kana wants to go out with that guy, that’s her business, but I can’t imagine them dating… But other possibilities…
As I thought this, I felt a flutter in my heart.
That guy… is it Kisaragi?
Was he with them today too? Saki and Kana were both there, right?
It couldn’t have just been the two of them…
The thought looped endlessly in my head.
My mind had frozen, and I was completely spaced out.
“Huh!! Dammit!!!”
While I was spacing out, Mikku and the others had already disappeared from sight.
“Who the hell was that guy anyway?”
Could it really be Kisaragi? No, I want to believe that’s impossible for Miku, but if I had to name other candidates, who else could it be?
Miku shouldn’t have any guy friends. Thinking about it… Wait! Miku’s dad!?
Miku’s dad is about that height too. Plus, he plays on a company soccer team, so he’s in good shape and has just the right build.
Why didn’t I think of that possibility from the start? No matter how you look at it, that’s way more likely than that guy.
“What the hell! Worried for nothing!! Let’s just head home.”
—I said as I walked, but deep down, I still felt a lingering unease.
“…But just in case…”
I thought that, stopped, and grabbed my phone.
‘Miku, can I talk to you?’
A few minutes after I sent that message, while I waited restlessly, a reply came.
‘Is something wrong?’
‘Are you at home right now, Miku?’
‘Yeah, I am.’
‘When did you get back?’
‘What kind of question is that? I got back like ten minutes ago.’
If that was the case, then it definitely was Miku after all.
‘O-okay. So, are you and your dad at home right now, Miku?’
I timidly asked.
“Yes. Dad just got back too, actually. Why do you ask? I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, though.”
Hearing that reply, I felt relieved.
If she said he just got back, then it really was Miku’s dad… I hadn’t seen him recently, so I didn’t recognize him at first glance, but it was dark, so I guess that’s understandable. I couldn’t even make out his hair color clearly.
“Ugh… Seriously… That was totally unnecessary worry.”
I muttered that as I replied.
“No, it’s nothing. I’m walking now, so I’ll hang up. You can forget about what just happened.”
“Oh? I don’t get it, but whatever.”
That was all I heard, so feeling relieved, I checked the time on my phone.
“Shit!! I gotta hurry!!”
Feeling like I’d wasted too much time and would be late for the game I’d promised to play, I quickly stuffed my phone into my pocket and started running.
Even as I ran with that thought, though my doubts had been cleared and my unease should have lifted, for some reason, a lingering sense of unease remained…
