Episode 1 – Encountering Kirigiri Misuzu

After I Saved Kirigiri San, a Cool, Sharp-tongued Gyaru, From a Pick-up, She Started Coming Into My House the Next Day

Under a clear sky, I was walking home from school alone, suppressing my high tension.

“Today was tiring~. I can’t wait to go home and play some games.”

I had no choice but to play the new RPG, the first one in four years. Besides, tomorrow is the weekend. No school, no waiting for the course to start in the morning.

Of course, I had snacks and soda ready to go. The best gaming life awaits me when I get home.

I live in an apartment about a ten-minute walk from the school.

The rent is an unbelievably cheap 30,000 yen for a seven-mat room. At first, I suspected that the apartment had some kind of rumors attached to it, but my mother worked very hard to find a place for me to live, so I decided to live there without hesitation.

“Hm?”

There was a woman standing in front of the shabby apartment.

She had long, lustrous black hair, thin legs, and was wearing a miniskirt that was barely visible.

There was no doubt about it. That was Kirigiri Misuzu san from the same class. She often stands out because she maintains a unique aura.

I wonder what she is doing……

“Hey, hey, there’s no need to run away !”

“You’re cute as hell ! Come hang with us !”

But right in front of her, there were a pair of blondes who looked like they might be college students.

Perhaps this situation was a pick-up, no doubt.

At school, she has such a dry personality that even a glance will result in a sharp remark, but there was something strange about her.

“S-stop…..”

She was trembling and frightened.

She usually has a stern attitude towards boys, but right now she doesn’t seem like that at all. This means she seems to be in a trouble.

“Hey, don’t ignore us.”

“We’re the ones asking you out.”

“S-stay away from me……”

The businessmen and housewives on the street only looked at her in distress, but did not try to help her.

Well, of course. It is normal to want to avoid getting involved in troublesome things as much as possible, and on the other hand, there is a possibility of getting hurt if you get involved.

Of course, I don’t want to get into trouble either, so normally I would just walk by, but I can’t just let it go by when it happens right in front of my apartment.

Besides, she is a popular person in my class, or even in the school. If she finds out that I let this slide, she will spread the word all over the school.

If that happens, bad rumors about me will spread at once, and my peaceful and tranquil school life will surely fall apart……

It can’t be helped. I sighed heavily and went to her.

“Hm ! It’s you Kirigiri san !”

I waved to Kirigiri san with an awkward smile on my face, keeping the two ruffians out of sight. I’m sorry to say that I’m a terrible actor, but it’s the least I can do.

“Eh?”

Kirigiri san opened her mouth in surprise when a third person suddenly appeared and mumbled her name.

No wonder. I had never spoken a word to her or even exchanged a glance with her.

“Hm? What’s wrong? Did you perhaps come to my house? Thanks ! Then come on in, come on in !”

“Eh, ah……”

Kirigiri san had a puzzled look on her face.

I know it’s a messy helping hand, but please read the air here……

“Huh? Who’s this?”

“Do you know him?”

When Kirigiri san was troubled by the strange third party, the delinquents in front of her, perhaps not thinking well of the visit of an unknown man, stared at me with a glare.

Well, it was only natural. They didn’t feel good about having their pick-up game interrupted by such a dull guy.

I had no choice but to run to my room.

Somehow I sensed something disturbing about this situation, and feeling sorry for myself, I grabbed her hand.

And then, as I was about to run back home, it happened.

“This person, he’s my boyfriend—so don’t bother me anymore !”

(Eh?)

Her unexpected words stopped me in my tracks.

Of course, she and I don’t have that kind of relationship, and we’ve never exchanged a word at school.

Or rather, she probably doesn’t even know I exist.

“Such a dull guy is your boyfriend?”

“For real…..”

It was a good lie that came out on the spur of the moment, but it only added fuel to the fire for these delinquents.

“Haa, there’s no way this guy is her boyfriend. He’s pissing me off, I wanna punch him.”

“Agreed !”

The delinquents changed their target and glared at me. It was like a lion finding the perfect prey.

I couldn’t stop sweating at the unpleasant turn of events that was about to take place.

“Damn it ! Don’t get carried away just because she’s cute !”

In an instant, the delinquent, who was right in front of me, grabbed me by the chest and blew off the first button of my uniform with a mighty bang.

(Oh no luck……well, it’s better if I just get punched in the face…..)

I just wanted to go home early and play some games, but I didn’t expect this.

I was just trying to live a peaceful school life, but who would have thought that I would get caught up in something like this?

I saw one of the delinquents clench his fist tightly, and all I could do was close my eyes and wait to see what would happen.

“Let him go ! What are you guys doing !”

I saw a policeman on patrol come running toward me at just the right moment.

The delinquents saw this and, perhaps feeling bad about it, dashed off.

“It’s the cops ! What a pain in the ass !

Damn it, remember this !”

The delinquents blew me away and I fell on my butt on the concrete.

I coughed violently, probably from the tightness around my neck.

Fortunately, I wasn’t injured, but my uniform was wrinkled around my chest.

This is definitely in need of a dry cleaning.

“Are you kids all right? Are you hurt?”

I don’t know what would have happened if the policeman hadn’t happened to pass by…..

I shuddered to think so, but was glad I managed to avoid being hit.

“Ah, um…..we’re okay.”

“I’m going after those guys. If anything happens, go to the hospital right away !”

The policeman who said that chased after the delinquents.

“……………………”

It’s just me and Kirigiri san…

I don’t know what to say to her, and silence enveloped the area.

“Um, Kirigiri san, right? Are you okay?”

I couldn’t stand the air as I expected, so I turned to Kirikiri and opened my mouth.

“……Yeah.”

Kirigiri san mumbles in a thin voice.

The girl I knew always gave off a cool impression, but this time she seemed quite frightened, her hands were trembling and she looked a little pale.

“A-are you sure?”

“What’s your name?”

She asked me before she could answer my question.

If I remember correctly, I had never seen her talking to a boy. So I was a little surprised.

Well, if she asks me a question, it’s probably okay.

“Oh, erm, I’m Kinoshita Yuuma. We’re classmates…”

“I see, this is the first time I’ve seen you.”

Of course.

Well, there’s no way she’d remember a random character like me.

I never proactively talked to my classmates, so it was all my own doing, but…it makes me a little sad.

“Let me just ask you one thing. You could’ve just ignored me…..why didn’t you run away?”

It was a natural question.

I decided to answer the question honestly.

“This is my apartment, so I couldn’t just walk away.”

“I see.”

It’s no secret that I felt like running away right now.

“Can I ask you a question too? Why did you say those things?”

I knew that the strong words “my boyfriend” were probably just a false statement made to save her life, but it seemed unusual to me for a girl who hates men.

“It’s just….by accident.”

“I see…..”

Kirigiri san muttered as she averted her gaze.

“Even so, you were really unreliable…if things had continued like that, you would’ve been punched.”

I’m a man after all, so when someone says something harsh to me face to face, it really hits home.

Well, it’s true. In that situation, I couldn’t say anything back, I was just waiting to get hit.

But I don’t like being told off, so I try and say something back.

“Y-you looked like you were about to start crying. Your hands were shaking.”

“Ha?”

I wonder if I’ve caught her off guard, as she stares at me with a sharp gaze.

I was so scared that I could feel the pores all over my body opening up.

I heard that some of the boys at school are captivated by this sharp gaze, but I have no idea how good it is.

“…………”

As soon as she uttered those strong words, Kirigiri san suddenly fell silent.

She asked questions, acted coldly. got angry. She seemed like a busy person.

But despite her cold attitude, Kirigiri san’s body was trembling slightly.

Seeing Kirigiri san, who is usually cool and unfazed by anything, looking scared, I was reminded that she was a girl after all.

“Where do you live?”

“Room 101 is my house, what about it?”

Kirigiri san mutters in a disinterested tone of voice and stares at the apartment.

I would appreciate it if you don’t stare at it so much because it’s so ragged.

“I see…anyway thanks……well then.”

With her ears red, she muttered something in a voice so soft it was hard to hear, then ran off at full speed.

“What was that? Well, whatever.”

I went to my castle at the end of the first floor of the apartment as if nothing had happened. It seemed that a lot of time had passed since the previous incident.

It had been an unusually turbulent day for me. I hope tomorrow will be more peaceful.

I wished so in my heart. I clicked to start the game.
