After I Saved Kirigiri San, a Cool, Sharp-tongued Gyaru, From a Pick-up, She Started Coming Into My House the Next Day

“Kinoshita, what do you wanna eat today?”

After leaving the game store, we decided to go shopping for supper at Kirigiri’s suggestion.

When we entered the supermarket, housewives were examining ingredients everywhere, as it was late in the evening before dinner.

“Ah, Mom ! There’s someone dressed strangely !”

“Don’t stare at him.”

I still get strange looks from people like that, so I want to get this over with quickly and go home early.

“Hey, Kinoshita, are you listening?”

I had planned to go home, change, and go shopping alone, but Kirigiri said, [I’m worried about Kinoshita shopping alone.]

In fact, it’s been six months since I’ve been to the supermarket, but I could do a little shopping or two myself.

“Hey ! Are you listening to me?”

Kirigiri’s voice brought me back to myself.

“Ah, sorry. Tonight’s dinner? I’m fine with whatever.”

“It’s annoying when people say ‘whatever’……”

“M-my bad…….”

Kirigiri has a displeased look on her face.

I think my mother once told me the same thing.

“Could you please think about this properly? Don’t complain to me later.”

Kirigiri is angry with me as she puts her hands on her hips.

“I mean, anything made by Kirigiri is delicious, right? I wouldn’t complain.”

“Ha?”

This is my real thought.

After eating the omurice and fried rice, there’s no way I’d doubt Kirigiri’s cooking skills.

Besides, I’m confident I could eat anything Kirigiri makes.

“If you suddenly say things like that…”

I couldn’t hear her well because of the mask.

I wonder if it was just my imagination that her face was a little red. Or was it the mask’s effect?

I felt relieved when I saw that her grumpy expression had softened a little.

“On the other hand, Kirigiri, are there any dishes you don’t like?”

“I don’t think so. I can eat almost anything.”

I’m impressed.

“How about meat and potatoes then? It’s a bit old-fashioned, but.”

“Sounds good. I haven’t had it recently.”

I have been wanting to eat a Japanese dish for a while. I hadn’t had it for more than a year since the last time I had it before I moved out of town.

“Done. Then, let’s go choose some meat.”

Kirigiri is pushing the trolley as she makes her way to the meat section.

From behind, it looked like she was enjoying shopping.

“Oh ! This is pretty good, isn’t it?”

I followed Kirigiri to the meat. Picked up a piece of fatty pork that was placed in front of me.

It was a large amount, 200 grams, but I could make more and eat it at a later date if I had any left over.

I put it in the trolley without comparing it with the other meats.

“Are you serious, Kinoshita?”

Kirigiri stares at my foolishness with an expression of dismay on her face.

I had no idea what on earth was wrong.

“This is by far the better meat.”

Kirigiri picked up the pork marked “bargain” next to it and showed it to me.

“What’s the difference?”

I looked at the meat in my hand and the one in Kirigiri’s hand alternately, but I couldn’t understand what the difference was.

“The pork I chose is fresher. See how pink it is?”

I compared the pork again.

It was true that the pork Kirigiri chose was pinker and looked better.

“This pork is less fatty and tastier. And it’s cheaper.”

The pork I chose had more fat and less meat. It was true that I would be less satisfied with this one.

“I-I see……I’m feeling a little frustrated……”

“I’m glad you got it.

Good thing you got me.”

Kirigiri smiled kindly as she placed the pork she had chosen into the trolley. Is there any high school girl who is so particular about ingredients and price? Perhaps her parents raised her well.

“We also need potatoes and carrots…and onions. And then–“

As I watch Kirigiri holding her hand over her mouth and thinking about the ingredients she needs, a sudden thought occurs to me.

I wondered if it would be like this if I got a girlfriend and started living together. I’ve never had a girlfriend, so it’s just an imagination, but that’s what I suddenly thought.

Maybe I’ve been listening to Haga bragging about his girlfriend every day, and this has given me a sense of envy.

I shook off this unfulfilled wish, finished buying the meat and potatoes and ingredients for the next few days, and went to the checkout.

I shrugged off this fantasy and went to the checkout.

“Isn’t this too much? Will this all fit in the fridge?”

By the time I went outside, the sun had set and it was completely dark.

The refrigerator in my house is for one person, so there is not enough space for several days’ worth of dinner, so I was a little worried.

“Oh, I hadn’t thought of that…but the fridge was empty to begin with. You can manage this much, right?”

“Well, I see.”

That’s a gyaru. She is always positive.

We had a casual conversation as we carried the big bag together and headed for home. Kirigiri walks a little ahead of me.

“Now that I think of it, Kirigiri, don’t you have to go home?”

“Eh?”

“You know, it’s getting late. Won’t your parents get worried?”

This may be none of my business, but no matter how close it is to my house, if you include the time it takes to cook and eat the meat and potatoes, it will be quite late when she get home.

Even though she is a high school girl, she is still just one girl. Not many parents would allow her to stay out late at night. I had been worried about that for a long time.

“There’s no need for Kinoshita to worry about such things. Are you a worrier?”

Kirigiri looks back at me with a wry smile.

But her face clearly showed she was hiding something.

“Not really. But it would be a hassle if your parents scold you, right? They might get angry…”

“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it.”

“But you should at least call…….”

“I told you, it’s fine…………really……”

Kirigiri muttered with a hint of loneliness in her voice.

“I see. I get it.”

I shouldn’t ask any more about Kirigiri’s family. Sensing this, I decided not to ask any more.
