After I Saved Kirigiri San, a Cool, Sharp-tongued Gyaru, From a Pick-up, She Started Coming Into My House the Next Day

I returned home dragging my heavy legs, crushed by a feeling of regret. My head ached and my body was sluggish.

I didn’t report it to Mika san because I didn’t want her to worry, and I didn’t know how to face the fact that I had promised to be there for her daughter but it ended up like this.

“I’m home……”

My voice echoes in the empty room.

The darkened room reminded me of the reality of what had just happened. For some reason, my thoughts were calm despite the sadness of what had just happened.

On the table was the pink controller I had bought for Kirigiri. Cosmetics and household items for women were placed on the sink. There were definitely traces of Kirigiri’s presence there.

For some reason, the sight of Kirigiri’s personal belongings made my heart ache, so I decided to put them away as soon as possible.

This is no longer necessary.

“In times like this, let’s take a bath and forget about the unpleasant things……”

I decided to soak myself in the bathtub to wash away the regret that was stuck in my body.

“Oh, I’m coming in—“

It was a rule we’d agreed on when I peeked Kirigiri in the bathroom. From now on, that rule won’t be necessary.

Of course, there is no Kirigiri in the bathroom.

“What am I….saying….?”

The bathtub soothed the sensation of exhaustion from the entire body.

I close my eyes. This brings back memories of when I met Kirigiri and lived with her for a short time.

She got involved with a group of guys, and by chance, she started coming into my house, and from there, she taught me how to cook and we became friends after playing games together.

From the outside, the encounter was like a romantic comedy. It was so unrealistic that I don’t know if Haga would believe me if I told him.

(I remember going around a lot so that people at school wouldn’t find out……)

I think it’s ridiculous if you think about it.

We would put on disguises and leave the house so that we wouldn’t be recognized. What the hell were we doing?

But from now on, we can live our lives without worrying about our surroundings. It’s easy to think that way.

“Yes, we were strangers from the beginning,……and there is nothing to be sad about. I’ll just go back to the life I had before I met Kirigiri—my normal, peaceful school life. There’ll be no problems.”

There’s nothing strange about it. Kirigiri and I are strangers.

And we had promised to move out someday, so there’s no problem if she disappears from my house.

And also, from the beginning, we were just classmates who were not supposed to be involved. And we would occasionally pass each other in the hallway.

I forced myself to think that we would just go back to our old lives.

I got out of the bathtub before I fell asleep and huddled under the covers to escape reality.

“Yes, this is fine…this……”

I turned off the light and closed my eyes so as not to think about anything alone, and Kirigiri’s voice was vividly replayed in my mind.

[That’s why I came over?]

[Look, don’t just stand there in a daze, we’re gonna start cleaning.]

[Yeah. It’s done well, isn’t it? Kinoshita, you’re getting good at cutting.]

She hates men, is cool, a good cook, a good teacher, surprisingly cute, loves her mom, hates to lose, and likes to play video games.

And then—.

“No. Forget it…….”

[You’re lying, you were up late playing games anyway, weren’t you? You have dark circles under your eyes.]

It doesn’t matter, I’ll never see her again, but I can’t get……Kirigiri out of my mind.

“I’ll forget about it once I go to bed. It’s fine. Time will solve everything, even if you’re having a hard time.”

I tell myself like a spell.

But,

[You’re so worried about me, Kinoshita.]

[Fufu, thanks. I like that about you.]

[I’m sorry, Yuuma. Thank you for stopping me. I’m okay now.]

The days and memories he spent with Kirigiri flashed through my mind one after another.

“It’s not okay…damn it…I’m an idiot..what am I doing?”

Pathetically, I was crying alone. No matter how much I wiped them away, the tears wouldn’t stop and my pillow was completely soaked.

And then I finally realized the feelings I had for Kirigiri.

I “loved” Kirigiri Misuzu—.

I had developed romantic feelings for her while living with her.

Why didn’t I realize it before? Is it because my life with Kirigiri has become so normal that I have had no time to be aware of it?

But it is too late to realize it now. Kirigiri is no longer here.

But…..still……. If it were possible, I would like to meet the girl who gave color to my gray student life—Kirigiri Misuzu.

If it were possible, I want to turn back time.

If it were possible, I would hold Kirikiri’s hand once more and hold on to it.

I spent the night crying alone, wiping away my regrets.

The next day—Kirigiri stopped coming to school.
