After My Childhood Friend Rejected Me, I Cut My Bangs and Took off My Glasses in Shock, and I Became Popular With the Girls. And I Don’t Like It When She Wants to Be Friends With Me Again…..
“Haaahaahaaa….so hard!”
I was falling down, breathing hard.
I had indeed run too far. I was so fired up that I trained harder than usual.
“….. but I feel like my mind has eased up.”
Thanks to Mom’s comforting words and my daily training routine, my mental state had relaxed considerably.
Although Mika still flashed in my mind, the feeling of “liking” her was slowly fading away.
“Okay, I’m looking good today.”
I looked at my body in front of the mirror.
It is not that I am a macho guy. I work out as a hobby, so I’m thin enough that you wouldn’t be able to tell when I put on clothes. But I think I have more muscle than average, and I’m thin, more like a model’s body.
But what bothers me more than the body is my long hair that has grown out and covers my face, and my thick glasses because I have too bad eyesight.
“As …… Mika said, Maybe I should do something about the bangs and glasses.”
I couldn’t summon up the courage to give it a makeover, but this might be a good time to give it a complete makeover.
I might trim my bangs, give my hair a modern, fashionable look, and maybe make my glasses a little less heavy or go with contacts.
I’ve got a weekend coming up, so maybe I should go to a hair salon and an eyewear store while I’m there.
Okay, I’ll do that.
“Rikutoo! Dinner’s ready”
As I was mulling things over, I received a call for dinner.
I quickly put on my clothes and left the room. I went from upstairs to the living room on the first floor.
I see only my mother at the living room table.
“Dad’s out drinking,”
Mom told me while she was serving me dinner.
My father comes home late, so I can’t spend time with him on weekdays.
“Where’s Sora?”
She said she was going to hang out with her friends and then come home, so I think she’ll be home soon.
“Hmmm. Thank you.”
I confirmed that and started to eat with chopsticks in hand.
By the way, Sora is my younger sister. She is two years younger than me and is in her first year of high school. She has friends even though she just started high school.
I envy her, but she’s the complete opposite of me, so I guess that’s to be expected.
“By the way, Mom.”
“What’s up?”
“Do you know any good hair salons? Also, I’m going to get contacts, so I need to go to an eye doctor….”
I felt embarrassed, but I decided to ask her.
“Eh! Finally, are you going to cut that long hair!? That alone is amazing, but are you going to give up your glasses and wear contacts too!?”
Mom applauded with a big smile, both surprised and pleased.
“You’re overreacting.”
“I’m happy for you. I’m glad to see that shy and small-minded Rikuto has finally peeled off his skin. I wonder if it’s because he got his heart broken after all?”
“ ……So, do you know any good places to go?”
Although I feel a little embarrassed to be told that it is thanks to her, but it is not a mistake.
“Of course I do. I’ll send you the address and everything on line later, so you can go there tomorrow. And here’s the money. Make sure you get it done in style.”
“Are you sure? I have enough money from my part-time job to pay for it myself.”
“Kids don’t have to bother with that kind of thing. But it’s mother’s secret savings, so don’t tell your father, okay?”
“Fufu….I understand. Thanks for the food.”
I took the money and got up to finish my meal at the same time.
“Oh well, Sora will be so surprised when you get a makeover”
Mom was smiling the whole time.
“….. I don’t think she will change that”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah. Because…”
“—I’m home.”
Sora came home. Her voice was quiet and calm as ever.
I tried my best to avoid running into her, but at this rate it seemed impossible to avoid her.
“Mom, I’ve eaten dinner.”
Sora peeked out of the living room door.
She had a bob cut of beautiful black hair, was small in stature, slim in build, and had the appearance of a beautiful Japanese doll.
“Ara? I’ll wrap it up for you and you can pick it in the morning.”
“Yeah.”
“…Welcome back.”
I saw the opportunity and spoke to her.
But Sora’s face instantly flushed with displeasure, and she glared at me with a sharp glare.
“…..”
Sora said nothing. All I could hear was the sound of running up the stairs.
But that’s just the way it always is.
She wouldn’t talk to me.
I was used to it.
“Mouu, get along with each other.”
My mother was annoyed.
“I’m trying to get along ……”
“It’s been three years since the two of you became like this, since Sora started junior high school. Don’t you remember doing anything that she didn’t like?”
“I don’t. If I had, I would have apologized long ago.”
I have no idea what triggered it, and I have no idea what it was. One day she suddenly hated me.
“You two are in high school now, why don’t you talk it out? you can fight and mom can intervene, okay?”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll talk to her in the near future.”
“I see. Let me know if you have any problems.”
“Okay, thanks.”
With that, I left the living room and went back to my room.
I was able to forget about the bad things while I was training, but after I had eaten dinner and my body calmed down, I still felt an indescribably sad feeling when I was left alone in a quiet room.
“….. Damn it”
I fell back on the bed and buried my face in the pillow.
It smells nice because my mom washed it for me. But I can’t let that distract me.
Tears naturally welled up.
That night I fell asleep like mud, but the sad feeling of shock from a broken heart never lifted.

Why does the sister hate him?
