How I, a Hated Person, Ended Up Staying With Three Beautiful Sisters
“Huh? Demolition !?”
I’m Arata Kojiro, a second-year high school student.
Early Saturday morning, I couldn’t help but let out a crazy cry.
“…The landlady collapsed. Her son came back and took over the business, but now he’s talking about demolishing the building.”
The old man who managed the apartment bowed his head apologetically.
“Wait a minute. If I get kicked out of here, where am I supposed to go? Plus, midterm exams are coming up soon. I was planning to study.”
“Even if you say that…they’re doing a survey of the ground subsidence in this area in conjunction with the water pipe construction on the road, and it turns out there are all kinds of legal issues. They say it’s too late to repair it now.”
This was completely unexpected.
Normally, they would have told us about the demolition of the apartment building much earlier. I think that’s only natural.
But the manager’s eyes clearly said, “I’m a victim too” so I lost the will to argue.

“So, when is the deadline for moving out?”
“Three days from now.”
“That soon !?”
“I’m sorry, I really am ! But this has already been decided…this apartment is in such a state that it could collapse at any moment. So please don’t glare at me like that !”
“I’m not glaring, these eyes are just the way I was born.”
Still, this is ridiculous. It’s way too ridiculous.
There should be laws and notification obligations, right? But when they say “ground subsidence” it’s hard to argue. Above all, there’s no way I can find a new place to move to in just three days.
“By the way, what about moving expenses or helping me find a new place to live…”
“They’re not doing anything. They said it’s because of the circumstances. If you have any complaints about money or anything else, they said to hire a lawyer and take them to court.”
“That’s outrageous !”
“Hahaha…well, I know it’s tough, but hang in there. I’ll at least buy you some tea.”

And so, my eviction was finalized. I’ve been living alone in this apartment since middle school, but I never thought I’d have to leave after only four years.
For now, I’ll ask my dad for help.
I can’t find a new place to live on my own, and I can’t even sign a lease.
The only reason I was able to live alone in this apartment was because the landlady was willing to make an exception for me.
“Haa…this is depressing.”

[Yeah. I just remembered that an old friend of mine has a room in a big apartment building near Kojiro’s apartment.]
“Temporarily means staying in that person’s room, right?”
[Yeah. If I talk to them, you can move in right away.]
“…No, is that really okay? We’re complete strangers. I’m not comfortable living with a family I don’t know.”
My father is excited and eager, but I’m not comfortable with the idea of living like a homestay.
[Don’t worry. The ones actually living there are three high school students around Kojiro’s age. Their parents are also overseas like us. I haven’t heard the details, but they seem like cheerful, fun kids.]
“Around my age…are they girls by any chance?”
[I don’t remember. Your dad isn’t good at prying into personal matters like that.]
This feels sketchy.
But if I miss this opportunity, I feel like I’ll be stuck.
“Got it. By the way, how long do you think it’ll take to find temporary housing?”
[Hmm, including the contract and all that, at least a month or so. I’ll talk to them on your behalf, so just pack your stuff and get ready. I’ll let you know if anything comes up.]
“…Got it. Thanks. I’ll give it a try for a month.”
[Alright. Count on me ! Don’t worry about the money ! Believe it or not, your daddy here makes good money !]
The call with my father ended like that.
Sitting in the cramped room creaking in the wind, I continued packing while sighing.
“Haa…I hope I don’t scare people with this face.”
At least I had somewhere to go.
With my face, I might get reported even at an internet café.
Hearing that my father’s old friend was a former gang member gave me a bad feeling, but there was nothing I could do about it now.
Just one month. I’ll just try to get through it somehow.
