Episode 2 – The Segawa Sisters

How I, a Hated Person, Ended Up Staying With Three Beautiful Sisters

Today is Tuesday.

That means it’s been three days since I unexpectedly received an eviction notice.

The sky was high and clear, but my heart was cloudy.

“Thank you for the past four years.”

I took my backpack off my shoulders, grabbed my handbag, and left the apartment.

After locking the front door, I leaned against it for a moment.

I moved here around the time I was in seventh and eighth grade, and lived alone in this run-down apartment for four years.

On rainy days, there was a dripping sound from the ceiling, and in summer it was unbearably hot, while in winter it was unbearably cold. But to me, it was a proper room.

It reminded me of the room where I used to live with my father and mother. Now they’ve both become wealthy and started living overseas, but I loved this place.

“…Well, let’s go.”

I muttered to no one in particular and left the scene.

I walk to school. It takes thirty minutes to walk there, but it’s still better than taking the bus or train.

When I entered the classroom, I felt a few glances.

This is usual.

The reason is simple. It’s because of my eyes.

My hair is ordinary black, but my eyes have always been sharp. Even when I’m not angry, people say I look scary, and even when I’m not talking, they think I’m glaring at them.

So, I stand out quite a bit in high school.

Few people talk to me, and when our eyes meet, they tremble and run away.

I’ve never done pair work in class, and I’m always alone as a matter of course.

Well, I don’t really mind that.

I can relax without talking to anyone and use that time to study hard.

Thanks to that, I’ve always been at the top of my class since I entered high school, up until May of my second year, which is now.

I’m also decent at sports, thanks to my former delinquent father, and if it weren’t for my fierce-looking face, I should be more popular.

“…I don’t want to live with someone else…”

During lunch break on the rooftop, I devoured the last bento I made in the run-down apartment.

It’s delicious.

I don’t want after-school hours to come.

Just thinking about living with three high school students I’ve never met before makes me feel depressed.

My father said they were bright and nice kids, but….who knows what will happen.

After-school hours, please don’t come.

Lunch break, please continue forever.

This is the only place where I can find peace.

—Alright, let’s head home !

When the dismissal bell rang, an unknown classmate (male) said that.

My wish was in vain, and time flowed cruelly, and before I knew it, it was after school.

“…Alright.”

I tried to stand up from my seat.

It was right after the dismissal bell rang, so I should have been the fastest.

However, a strange commotion spread throughout the classroom.

“No way ! They’re all here !”

“Just like the rumors say, they’re really beautiful sisters…”

“They’re on a whole different level !”

I looked up, wondering what was going on, and saw three girls standing at the entrance of the classroom.

Those were…the three beautiful sisters that our Sakurayama Academy was proud of. Even I, a loner, knew how famous they were.

“Maho chan is so cute, seriously…”

One of the boys in the class muttered.

One of the three is a beauty who is said to be unknown to no one in our grade—or rather, our class.

Her name is Segawa Maho.

She has sapphire-blue hair that reaches down to her waist, and her sharp eyes have tear tattoos. She has a wide circle of friends and is the center of the class. The words “graceful” and “chaste” fit her perfectly.

Incidentally, I’ve never spoken to her. I’ve only seen her occasionally when she was asked to do something by a teacher.

“Dumbass ! I’m more into the gentle, small animal-like Miyu than the pure and cute Maho !”

Next to Segawa Maho stands a short girl with bright hair. Her name is Segawa Miyu, the youngest of the Segawa sisters and a first-year student.

Her lavender-colored medium-length hair bounced around as she looked around restlessly.

She was also famous, but I didn’t know much about her. Of course, I had never spoken to her either.

“Hmph, you guys don’t get it. Maho chan and Miyu tan are nice, but Akane san is the best ! I want to be petted by her !”

The eldest of the three sisters. Her name was Segawa Akane. A third-year student. She has wine-red short hair. She’s a mature older sister with an amazing figure…..I’ve heard the boys around her talking about it.

Of course, I’ve never spoken to her. I just know about her.

Well, putting my little information analysis aside, how am I going to get back from here?

One side of the classroom door is blocked by the three sisters, and the other side is crowded with onlookers, so it doesn’t look like I can get through.

I don’t have time to relax.

“Maho chan, let’s go home quick, okay? Today’s that day, right?”

“Yeah. Miyu, are you ready to greet her?”

“Yeah.”

“Anyway, I wonder what kind of girl she is. Daddy said he doesn’t know much about her, but she seems smart and reliable. I want to get along with her.”

“Yeah, I guess so. Personally, I’d like a cute little sister, like Maho chan or Miyu chan.”

Every time the three sisters talked, their classmates and the onlookers became more noisy.

I wanted them to leave quickly, but the three sisters seemed to be enjoying their conversation and showed no signs of leaving.

Oh well.

“Hmm.”

I picked up my backpack and handbag and slowly stood up.

The sound of the chair scraping across the floor was louder than I expected, and all eyes in the classroom turned to me.

Of course, the three sisters were also looking at me.

The eldest sister put her hand over her mouth in surprise.

The second sister narrowed her eyes and glared at me.

The youngest sister tilted her head in confusion.

They were all different in their own ways.

“Haa…”

Thinking, “Here we go again,” I pushed my way through the crowd of onlookers to leave the classroom.

Of course, I didn’t use the door that the three sisters were blocking.

As I passed, the onlookers moved aside to make way for me, like Moses parting the Red Sea.

During that time, I heard things like “Scary” “His eyes…” and “He’ll kill us !” but I ignored them and headed for the elevator.

“…Let’s head to the new house.”

I checked the message from my father in the deserted elevator lobby.

It arrived this morning. All I was told was the address and room number of the apartment building. It seemed to be on the top floor. Of course, I didn’t have the key, so I would have to press the intercom button to make contact first.

Even though I’m not socially awkward, I’m avoided by others, so I have difficulties with interpersonal relationships. If I mess up the first impression, the next month will be hell.

No, the other person probably already knows about me from rumors among the high school students, so there’s no way we’ll get along anyway.

It’s better to think about how to survive the inevitable hell.
