How I, a Hated Person, Ended Up Staying With Three Beautiful Sisters
The next day was the second day of the study session. May 21st.
After school that day.
Miyu was supposed to be a little late coming home because she was on cleaning duty.
I went home first and started preparing for studying with Akane senpai and Maho in the living room, and casually opened my mouth.
“Akane senpai, what was Miyu like in middle school?”
My wording might have been a bit abrupt, but Akane senpai reacted immediately.
“Eh, what is it? Are you maybe starting to like Miyu chan? As an older sister, that’s a bit complicated…”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s hot, so don’t get too close.”
“Boo, you stink.”
I pushed away Akane senpai, who had crossed her arms, and gave Maho, who was sitting on the other side, a glance.
Then, Maho opened her mouth without changing her expression.
“Akane. Why don’t you tell him about Miyu? It’s not like it’s anything weird.”
Maho was unusually straightforward.
“…”
When I silently urged her to continue, Akane senpai seemed to choose her words carefully.
“Well, to be honest, we don’t really know much about it either. Even when we asked Miyu herself, she didn’t really talk about it.”
Akane senpai spoke in her usual relaxed manner, but her voice seemed a little lower than usual.
“What happened?”
“I heard a rumor that when Miyu was in second year of middle school, she was bullied for a short period of time.”
“Bullied?”
I asked in surprise, and Akanesenpai nodded vaguely.
“Yeah, but it was just ‘like’ bullying. She was ignored a few times and gossiped about behind her back. But it didn’t last long, and I heard it stopped after about two weeks. But maybe that’s why Miyu started acting so quiet and trying not to stand out. She used to be more outgoing back then.”
When Akane senpai said that, Maho nodded and added,
“Yeah, around that time, she stopped talking about herself much. You might not believe it, but before that, she was the type who was good at both academics and sports.”
“…I see.”
I casually asked about Miyu’s past, but it turned out to be more bitter than I expected.
“It would be nice if she would talk about it herself. But you can’t force someone to talk about that kind of thing.”
Akane senpai smiled wryly as she stirred her cup of tea, looking somewhat sad. Maho was the same, stopping her study preparations and lowering her eyes.
“Miyu doesn’t seem like the type to talk about herself.”
“Yeah. So, I think only Miyu knows what she wants to do now. But…I feel like she’s been changing little by little lately. Maybe it’s thanks to Kojiro kun?”
“That’s not it.”
“Hey, you’re denying it too quickly!”
“…You know, even though Miyu seems like that, she’s actually pretty sensitive, so you absolutely can’t do anything weird. If you do something like what happened with Akane and that jerk senior, I won’t forgive you.”
“Oh my, you’re worried about Miyu, but that means you’re worried about Kojiro kun too, right? Maho chan, you’re so kind!”
“Shut up! Don’t get so close!”
“There, there! Good girl, good girl! You’re so cute, don’t get angry!”
Akane senpai smiled cheerfully with her signature (?) older sister move, while Maho quietly let herself be petted despite her complaints. It was a scene that looked just like sisters.
Left out of that atmosphere, I quietly turned my gaze to the window and let out a small sigh.
“…Bullying, huh?”
