Episode 7 – After running into a classmate

I Got Into a Secret Relationship With a Girl Who Was Out of My League

Itsuka Kyoka.

She is a friend of Nanamori and, in a word, a big sister type. She is easygoing, caring, always confident, and reliable. She is straightforward and unpretentious, which is why she has many friends of both sexes.

I freeze when she suddenly speaks to me.

…Why are you here?

My head is filled with questions.

I have to say something.

I knew that, but since it was Itsuka, I couldn’t bring myself to speak.

“Um, you see.”

I managed to reply, but inside I was sweating profusely.

“Are you here alone?”

“No…”

“Oh, I see. You’re here with friends.”

“Something like that.”

The amount of dishes on the table immediately gave away that there were two of us.

I suppose it’s possible that she thought I was a big eater, but the position of the dishes made it clear that there were two of us.

In my heart, I prayed that Nanamori wouldn’t come back.

And I desperately hoped that she would end the conversation quickly and go somewhere else.

“I invited you, so you know, I’m here with everyone from my class. Would you like to join us, Yagami kun? Of course, if your friends are okay with it.”

What kind of communication monster is this? Would you invite a classmate’s friend when you don’t even know who they are?

She has a star quality that is different from Nanamori.

It’s impossible. No matter how I think about it, it’s not good.

After all, both Nanamori and I turned down this invitation and came here.

Moreover, we haven’t told anyone about our relationship, and we can’t talk about it.

“No, that’s too much…”

“I see, my bad. Did you turn it down today because you had plans with your friend?”

“Well, yes.”

If she understands, I want her to read the atmosphere and back off quickly.

“I see. Then, can I invite you again sometime?”

“Sure, but why do you want to go to such lengths?”

Like Nanamori, I didn’t have much contact with her during the first semester. So why did she suddenly change her attitude in the second semester?

“Well, now that we’re in the same class, don’t you think it’s a waste to just hang out with the same people all the time? That’s why I decided to try to get to know the people I didn’t talk to much during the first semester.”

“So that’s why you invited me today?”

“That’s right. I suggested it because I want to get along with all kinds of people.”

When Itsuka and the others invited me to hang out, I was surprised, but that’s what it was about.

When she put it that way, I felt bad for turning her down.

“Don’t worry about it. There are other kids who turned me down too. If you had plans with your friend, that’s a perfectly valid reason to turn me down.”

Go seemed to understand what I was thinking and was being considerate.

Come to think of it, I declined, but what about Shinji and the others? I left the classroom immediately after class ended, so I didn’t ask them.

“Actually, is it okay for us to be talking like this? What about everyone else?”

“Yeah, I should probably go soon. I just stepped out to use the restroom.”

…That’s not good.

What if she runs into her?

“Everyone else is at that table over there. It’s quite far away.”

Still, I can’t let my guard down.

However, my worries proved to be unfounded.

My phone vibrated, and I received a message from Nanamori saying that she had already left the restaurant. It seems that Nanamori also noticed Go’s presence. As expected.

“Well, I’m going now. See you at school.”

“Yeah, see you.”

Having managed to avoid running into my classmates, I paid the bill and left the family restaurant.

Looking toward the seats in the distance from the entrance, I could barely make out Shinji and the others.

…They were there, huh. Setting aside that remark, from that spot, they couldn’t see our seats, and as long as they weren’t paying attention to the entrance, they wouldn’t notice us.

“Good job.”

A short distance from the family restaurant, Nanamori emerged from around the corner and offered words of encouragement.

You’re absolutely right. I’m exhausted.

“I thought we’d be found out. I was surprised that everyone came.”

“You seem to be enjoying yourself, though.”

“Doesn’t this kind of thing make you nervous?”

“I’d say it’s more like anxiety.”

Was she calm, or had she thought of an excuse that would make it okay if she was seen?

I don’t know, but once I felt relieved, I suddenly felt exhausted.

“What were you talking about with Kyoka? You seemed to be having a lot of fun.”

“Don’t tease me. You were clearly worried. I was nervous that Nanamori might come back.”

“I’m glad I noticed. So, what did you talk about?”

“Nothing important. Just why I was invited to play today, and if I wanted to come along.”

“Heh. You sure you don’t wanna go?”

“Of course not. I’m here with Nanamori.”

“Fufu, that’s right.”

Nanamori kept smiling.

Nanamori, illuminated by the cold white LED streetlights, seemed unreal.

She was always an eye-catching presence, but under the artificial light, she looked like she belonged in another world.

“What’s wrong? Why are you frozen like that?”

“No…I just thought that something like this might happen again, and I should think of an excuse in case someone finds out we’re together.”

“Why not just deal with it when it happens?”

“I don’t want to live my life on a whim like that”

I want to be fully prepared for when the time comes. I don’t want to panic like I did today.

“Well, I think you should just say it normally. Like, ‘We’re just friends with benefits.’”

“Like I could say that !”

What on earth are you talking about?

“Haha, just kidding. How did it go talking to Kyoka?”

“How did it go? What do you mean?”

“Well, Kyoka is a cool beauty, right? I wondered if she would appeal to Yagami kun’s tastes.”

“…What do you mean by my tastes? I don’t really care. I just think she’s a type I haven’t talked to much before.”

She seems to have a strong core, somehow.

It’s been half a year since we became high school students, but she’s still trying to get along with everyone in the class.

Even though the group of people she hangs out with is starting to solidify, being able to approach everyone in the class is no easy feat.

“Hmm. Anything else? Did you talk about anything else?”

What is she so concerned about?

“Well…oh, she asked if she could invite me again sometime.”

“What did you say?”

“I said it was fine, but is that a problem?”

“…No, it’s nothing. Oh, the convenience store.”

Nanamori spotted the convenience store in front of her, cut off the conversation, and headed toward the entrance.

“Are you going to buy something?”

“Huh? Condoms.”

“…Now?”

“Yeah, I ran out, so I need them, right?”

“I guess so.”

“We only did it once today, so do you want to do it again when we get home?”

“…Is there enough time?”

“I’ll make you come quickly.”

Is she seriously trying to do it again?

If she invites me like that, I’ll immediately give in to my desires.

“…If we’re going to do it, I want to take it a little slower.”

“Then should we stop?”

Nanamori smiled mischievously.

I’ve already eaten, so I’ll think about it when I get home. I put off answering and went home.

I came too quickly.
