I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life
“We’re back! Seito-senpai!!”
While I waited on the bed looking at my phone, the three of them entered the room with Kana leading the way.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. We got a little delayed checking on the two of them.”
“Seito-kun, we brought udon and jelly, so please eat if you like.”
“Thanks for everything, all three of you. I was just getting hungry, so you making udon was a huge help.”
When I said that, Saki smiled brightly and replied.
“Yeah! Eat it while it’s hot!”
“Right. Well then, I’ll dig in. You guys just sit wherever you like.”
So I took the udon from Saki and started eating.
“Mmm. This is really delicious.”
“I’m glad you like it… Thank you.”
“Saki-nee is such an amazing cook! I get her to make things for me sometimes too, and it’s always so delicious!!”
“Kana’s home cooking was great too, but Saki being such a good cook as well… You two are incredible.”
“Yeah. I’m almost jealous that both of you are such good cooks…”
Come to think of it, Miku said earlier she couldn’t cook at all.
Well, I can’t exactly say I’m a great cook either… I can manage, but I’d say I’m average or maybe a bit below average… That’s about it. Of course, anything complicated is out of the question. I think I could manage something if I followed the steps…
Since actually reincarnating, I’ve barely cooked at all. Basically, it’s convenience store rice balls or bread. Then I buy veggies or chicken to eat, and occasionally eat out.
Lately, since I’ve been spending more time with Kana, eating out has increased too.
“I’m the same, I’m not really good at cooking either.”
“You did say that. That’s why I offered to come cook all three meals for you every day, but you turned me down.”
Yeah, we definitely had that conversation.
Kana would totally do it, and asking her to go that far would be too much, so I turned her down.
“Well, that’s understandable… I mean, every day is impossible. We don’t even live together, so turning her down was the right call. If Seito had asked, Kana would’ve seriously tried to do it.”
“Hehehe, that’s so Kana-chan, but every day really would be tough.”
“Eh? I was serious! I was planning to make it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!”
I listened to the three of them while eating my udon, and it turns out she really was serious… I clearly understood now that turning her down was the right call.
There’s no doubt I’m incredibly happy about Kana’s feelings, but I really can’t push her that hard.
Sometimes I worry if Kana might push herself too hard for my sake.
It’s fine if I push myself too hard, but the reverse is a bit… Well, Kana probably feels exactly the same way about that, so it’s kind of hard to say anything.
“…Are you stupid?”
Seeing Kana say it with an expression that said “Well, duh?”, Miku piped up.
“That’s mean, Miku nee! I’m not stupid… am I?”
“At least say that part clearly…”
“Hehe, well, Kana-chan isn’t stupid, she’s just a hard worker. But yeah, if you could make Seito-kun food every day, it’d probably be lunch, right?”
“That’s true.”
“Exactly!! If I make him a bento and bring it, he’ll eat it!! Seito-senpai!! Would that be okay? You said you didn’t want to be a burden, but to me, it’s not a burden at all—I just want you to eat my lunchbox!!! I make my own lunchbox every day anyway, so it’s not that much trouble!!!”
Kana said this happily.
It’s true that school lunches mainly mean buying rice balls or bread from the school store or convenience store.
Sometimes Kana would share some of her side dishes with me when she asked me to eat, but that was about it.
Then Saki spoke up.
“True, making one portion or two doesn’t really change the effort much.”
“That’s kind of you, but are you sure it’s okay?”
“It’s fine! Because that’s what I want to do!!”
When I asked her that, Kana said it excitedly.
“Well then, I guess I’ll take you up on that. Kana’s cooking is amazing, and I’ve been wanting to eat it too.”
“Of course!! I don’t know if Seito-senpai will be coming to school tomorrow or the day after, but starting the next time you go to school, I’ll make your lunch and bring it, so please don’t buy rice balls or anything!!”
“Got it. Well then, I’ll be counting on you.”
“Yes! Leave it to me!!”
Time passed as we had that conversation.
◇
“Well then, we should probably head home soon.”
“Yeah, it is about time to go.”
“Already that late?”
Looking outside, it was starting to get a bit dark.
It was definitely getting dark outside, and it was about time to go.
I couldn’t even walk her home today.
“Yeah, it really is about time we headed back. Thank you so much today. Especially since it was so sudden.”
“No, no! We came because we wanted to, so it’s fine!!”
“That’s right. You were the one who said to rely on people, Seito, so this little thing is nothing.”
“That’s right, Seito-kun. We’re all in this together when we’re in trouble.”
When I thanked them, Kana and Saki smiled brightly and said that, while Miku looked a little embarrassed but still looked me in the eye and said it clearly.
“Still, I’m really grateful. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll be able to go to school tomorrow, so see you at school.”
“See you at school, Seito-kun!”
“I’ll be waiting at school.”
“Seito-senpai! Please contact me in the morning! I need to decide if I should bring lunch boxes!! And even if you don’t need it, don’t worry about it! We’ll eat the lunch box we made for Seito-senpai ourselves!!”
“Got it.”
“Well then, we’re heading home!”
And with that, the three of them left.
◇
――That night.
“Alright, this should be fine.”
Checking my temperature again, it was 36.9 degrees Celsius.
My normal temperature is high anyway, so this is perfectly normal.
Looking at how things are, I should be able to go to school tomorrow. This is all thanks to the three of them coming to look after me. I’m truly grateful.
Just as I was thinking that, Saki messaged me.
‘Seito-kun, are you okay now?’
‘Yeah, I’m fine. Why?’
‘How’s your health?’
‘I just took my temperature. No fever anymore. I can go to school tomorrow. I’m fine.’
‘That’s good to hear. So, I was talking with Mom and the others earlier. They were wondering if you’d like to go out for a meal with everyone after the tests are over. What do you think?’
“Dinner?”
“Yeah. You said we didn’t need to thank you, but mom and dad really want to do something like that. I feel the same way. So we were thinking of taking you to a slightly pricier place with private rooms.”
I see… I’ve met Saki’s parents a few times since then, but I kept turning them down…
Just as I was thinking that, I got another message from someone else.
I checked it and saw the sender was Harumi-san, Saki’s mother.
What could it be? Wondering, I peeked and saw this message had been sent.
‘Seito-kun. I think Saki just contacted you, but if it’s okay, I’d like you to tell her yes. Of course, it’s true we want to properly thank you, but we also hope, in our own way, that you and Saki can become closer. your relationship isn’t something we should interfere with, but given Saki’s personality… Oh! I shouldn’t be saying this to you! Sorry if this is none of my business.”
…So, does this mean Harumi-san totally knows about Saki’s feelings?
Huh? Does that mean she knows about my feelings too? Wait, does Harumi-san even know that Kana and I are dating? I haven’t told her, but could Saki have mentioned it? Or maybe her parents talked…
Wait, if that’s the case, does that mean Harumi-san and the others approve of Saki and me? Or could it just be that they want us to become good friends, not necessarily as a couple?
Nah, I don’t need to think about that right now. Harumi-san and the others are offering to help me out, so there’s no reason not to go along with this.
They said it’s partly to thank me, and even if they genuinely just want us to be good friends, or even if they’re saying it because they’ve noticed Saki’s feelings, it’s still a good opportunity.
Thinking that, I replied to Harumi-san with “Got it.” Then I sent it to Saki too.
“Got it. After the test, then.”
“Are you sure?”
“Your mom been saying she wants to thank me over and over, so I figured I’d take her up on it.”
“Really!? Got it. I’ll let Mom and the others know then.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
“Okay. Well, just in case, try to get to bed early tonight. Good night, Seito-kun.”
“Good night, Saki.”
And with that, our exchange ended.
