My Childhood Friend, a Cool, Beautiful Girl With a Pure Face, Is a Monopolising Yandere
I was able to borrow Marker from the librarian in the library, but not the tape.
I went back to the classroom, but the class’ portion was being used by another student, so I had no choice. I wandered over to the tool-lending window for the festival committee members.
Other students were waiting in line for construction paper and decorative parts.
I joined the line and grabbed a pen and tape, then returned with scissors and cutters.
“Here you go, I’ve got them.”
“Thank you. Put them in the corner there. Also, ask teacher to get some pins for the posters.”
Ran quickly picked up the blue marker and started tracing the letters in the rough sketch.
Ran was like a person finishing a work of art as she neatly drew in the headings and emphasis lines while considering the balance of the color scheme.
I get up from my seat again and go to the staff room to pick up the pin. When I returned with the box that the teacher had told me why, Ran had already started the explanation section on ecosystems. She is very skillful.
“I’ve written this much. Now I want to put in some illustrations of the creatures to help people understand. But color illustrations are time-consuming, so I don’t know what to do. ……”
“Do you want me to paint it?”
“……, I’ll pass. Yuto’s crabs and octopuses are so original in shape. It would be too confusing.”
She hit me right where it hurts.
Indeed, the aquatic creatures I drew in art class were at the level where the teacher would say, “Is this a picture of an alien?.
I can’t deny that I’m full of originality myself.
“If you need anything, just let me know and I’ll send it to you……”
“Yeah. I’m grateful to just the chores for now.”
Once that was said, I had nothing more to do.
I have all the tools I need, and Ran is writing up the descriptions in no time at all.
My job is completely “standby.”
However, I don’t feel comfortable just waiting at the end of the table all the time.
Looking out the window, I see that the sunlight still carries the remnants of summer.
Although the second semester has begun, the seasons do not change so quickly. From inside the air-conditioned room, the weather outside is so fine that it would not be surprising if cicadas were singing.
The bookshelves in the library are lined with books, illuminated by the sunlight.
“…… hmm?”
Suddenly, my eyes fell upon a corner of a shelf that looked like a children’s book corner.
There were several picture books and illustrated books lined up, and printed on them were unusually large and colorful titles. I noticed illustrated books for children, such as “The Wonder of the Deep Sea” and “Friends of Coral Reefs”
Obviously, these were not for high school students to read.
They were probably picture books for the library committee members to read to the children at the nearby children’s center.
I am not an expert on living creatures, but the cute illustrations made me interested in them.
I took a break, picked up the book, and flipped through it to find pictures of deep-sea sharks and angler anglerfish.
The deep-sea creatures drawn with their eyes glistening with a strange power and humor were somehow soothing.
As I was flipping through the pages in this fashion, Ran’s work seemed to have come to an end, and she called out to me in a small voice
“Yuto, what are you doing in a place like that?”
“Oh, Ran. I found an interesting book while I was taking a break. Look, a picture book about deep-sea fish.”
I returned to the table with the picture book and showed it to Ran.
She glanced at the cover and immediately returned her gaze to the poster.
“It’s not very professional. It’s aimed at children, so it won’t be of much use to us this time.”
“Ah, well, that’s true. It doesn’t contain any detailed data.”
Ran has already organized her knowledge of the “Tokyo Bay ecosystem” in her mind. Perhaps she is not interested in picture-book level information.
“But you know, on the day of the event, our friends and family might come to our class to see the event, right? Especially the siblings of elementary and junior high school students. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some easy-to-understand materials for them?”
Ran stops the tip of her pen and stares at me. She looks a little surprised.
“Look, if we’re going to hand out cookies, families might come. Some children will probably come to see what their older brothers and sisters are doing, so I think it would be a lot of fun to have something to read for them.”
I didn’t think that deeply about it, but the content of Ran’s poster was very professional and the text was very well written.
It might be difficult to understand for younger children, let alone for ordinary high school students. Then, it would be a good idea to put a picture book or a cute illustration next to it.
“Look at this. Look at these colorful illustrations of anemone fish and love mosquitoes.”
Ran said, “Let me borrow it,” and looked through the picture book again.
“…… Indeed. It’s a good idea to have a picture book as a sub-material to complement the visuals. It’s a good complement to the visuals.”
“Right? Some people may have a hard time catching on with just detailed numbers and technical terms.”
“I have to admit that I never thought of that. I honestly never thought about the possibility of little kids coming to the show.”
Ran’s reaction makes me proud.
Ran seems to be a perfectionist, but she is also flexible enough to take my opinion into account.
“I’ll borrow it under my name. So that I can put it there on the day.”
“Please. Thank you.”
I was happy that I could be of some help to her
It’s not bad to watch Ran working hard, but it’s lonely having to do only chores.
It’s the school festival after all. I want to enjoy it all, including the preparations.
