The S**ttiest Gyaru in the Class Confessed to Me

In the end, I couldn’t abandon Sayaka.

Ichika, my girlfriend, and Sayaka, whom I had only just met. It was a no-brainer.

The right thing to do would be to go after Ichika.

But I couldn’t bring myself to abandon Sayaka, who was clinging to me desperately.

Soon, the barrier rose, and only Sayaka and I remained.

Sayaka seemed off.

Her eyes were unfocused, and she didn’t have her usual teasing, playful vibe.

“I’m sorry. I have to go, Sou kyun. But I remembered something from the past and couldn’t move. I was scared.”

Did she have some terrible memory associated with the railroad crossing?

After about five minutes, Sayaka’s breathing calmed down. She took a deep breath and told me what had happened.

Sayaka usually uses the pedestrian bridge, but she couldn’t pass through it, so she had no choice but to stay at the railroad crossing.

When she saw a young boy, her knees suddenly gave out, and she lost her balance and was hit.

“If Sou kyun hadn’t pulled me back just now, I think I would have died.”

“It was definitely dangerous.”

“Yeah. But I’m troubling Sou kyun. I should’ve just died. I haven’t grown up. Riku probably doesn’t forgive me. That’s why…”

Don’t say such scary things.

Besides…

At that time? Riku?

The current Sayaka is completely different from the image I have of her. She’s gloomy and depressed. Dark. Maybe this is the real Sayaka.

Sayaka began to speak.

“You know, I used to have a younger brother.”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah, we were pretty close.”

Sayaka paused for a moment and let out a small sigh.

“But then, one day, we got into a fight over something trivial. Like Riku using my favorite ball without asking. I said some really harsh things. Then Riku ran away from home.”

Sayaka continued.

“Then, Riku didn’t come back. So, we all searched for him…we searched for a long time.”

Sayaka looked down.

“But in the end, Riku had died. He had chased after a rolling ball and entered the railroad tracks.”

If Aisha had been in an accident…

I couldn’t bear it, so I placed my hand on Sayaka’s shoulder.

“It’s my fault. I’m sure Riku chased after the ball because I got angry about it.”

“I see. Sayaka must have been in pain too.”

“No, it’s Riku who’s in pain. I deserve it. …Today is the anniversary of his death. But…I forgot until I came to the railroad crossing. I’m such a terrible sister.”

“It was a long time ago, right? Things like that happen.”

“Why am I talking about this…maybe because Sou kyun reminds me of Riku in some way.”

Then Sayaka told me a lot about herself. About her middle school and high school days. How she wasn’t actually a cheerful person. How she loved anime. How she always watched anime with her younger brother. How it had been their dream to create such an anime one day.

How her younger brother would be the same age as me if he were still alive. How she had someone she loved and couldn’t forget.

She really talked a lot.

She talked too much to someone like me.

Her eyes were gentle.

I thought that through me, Sayaka might be talking to Riku.

I suddenly realized.

Sayaka is attending a vocational school to become an animator.

“Sayaka, are you aiming to become an anime director?”

Sayaka remained silent and looked down.

I really wanted to keep listening to her, but I couldn’t leave Ikka like this.

I felt a little uneasy, so I walked Sayaka to a place away from the railroad crossing. Just to be safe.

When I left, Sayaka smiled and waved goodbye.

I sent a message to Ichika.

It was read, but there was no reply.

I called, but she didn’t answer.

I only know the general location of Ichika’s house.

I could ask Ai, but I’ve never been there before, so I don’t feel comfortable just showing up.

Ichika’s face won’t leave my mind.

This might be bad.

No, it’s definitely bad.

With my limited experience in love, I don’t know what to do in a situation like this.

I opened the paper bag I had picked up earlier.

It was the paper bag Ichika had dropped.

Inside were two cold taiyaki.
