When I Go Back in Time, My Ex-wife Is Making a Passionate Approach to Me, and I’m Having Trouble With It
“How am I supposed to talk about love?”
“Anything is fine. If you are in love now, we can talk about that, or we can talk about the past.”
I am not in love at the moment. That means you can only talk about the past.
“Shinohara-senpai first then.”
Tachibana urged me to open my mouth.
“There was a girl I really liked a long time ago, and I made a fierce attack on her.”
“Wow, that’s unexpected. I thought you were the type of person who would not get so passionate because of your calmness.”
It is true that I have grown mentally compared to back then. Tachibana’s opinion that I look calm is not wrong. I’m no longer going to be as passionate as I used to be.
I looked at Haruka and continued the conversation.
“I was in love with this girl and I couldn’t help but like her. No matter how many times she rejected me, I never gave up and attacked her.”
“It sounds a bit like a stalker, doesn’t it?”
“Shut up. She was all that mattered to me at the time.”
It’s strange. I wonder why I cooled down when I liked her so much. I was indifferent toward the end.
“So I finally got together with that girl, but we broke up.”
“It didn’t last long, did it? You chased after her so hard, and then you broke up with her even though you were fulfilled.”
“A lot happened, you know. ─really a lot of things.”
There was a lot going on. We were bad at making up after fights, and we would misunderstand each other over small things, get into arguments, or go for periods of time just ignoring each other.
“Shinohara-kun, when did that happen?”
Haruka asked unexpectedly.
“I think it was a year ago.”
At any rate, I’ll just let it come out of my mouth. I can’t say that it was with you, even if I wanted to.
“Is that enough of my story?”
“Yes, it was interesting. It was interesting to learn about the unexpected side of senpai.”
Tachibana nodded with satisfaction and cleared her throat.
“Then I will talk next.”
Tachibana then began to talk.
“I have never been in love yet.”
“That’s not fair.”
“I guess that can’t be helped. I’ve never been in love. I want to be in love too.”
Tachibana is in her first year of high school. It certainly seems a little late for her to have had her first love yet.
“But I still have a longing for it. What I like is a person who is devoting himself/herself to something. Isn’t it wonderful to be someone who works hard?”
“Indeed. I find guys who work hard to be attractive.”
“I think that’s true. I want to like people like that.”
“That’s nice. Well, there are people who work hard.”
“Where are they?”
“You.”
I point at Tachibana. As the head of the literary club, Tachibana is doing her best to lead the club. She’s serious about writing novels, and I feel there are many things I need to learn from her.
“I’m no good at it. I haven’t produced any results.”
“Results aren’t everything. There is an element of luck involved in that kind of thing.”
The evaluation of the Novel Writers’ Choice Award for New Writers sometimes depends on the tastes of the judges.
“There are people who are doing better than me.”
“Of course there are though”
“But thank you.”
Tachibana beamed.
“You’re doing your best, aren’t you?”
“Me?”
“Working hard to write a novel.”
“Compared to the two of you, I’m not even close.”
In fact, compared to Haruka, my efforts are trivial.
“Well, I recognize you, senpai, you know?”
Tachibana looks at me with her eyes cast down. Her gaze makes my heart ache a little. Tachibana is cute after all. Maybe because I’m used to seeing Haruka, I wasn’t shocked at first, but looking at her again, she is cute.
“Well, that’s what my story is about.”
Tachibana turned her head down with her cheeks flushed red. I’m sure she was embarrassed to talk about her love life, even though she had not yet fallen in love.
“Then, the last one is me.”
Haruka took a deep breath and began to speak.
“I’m in love right now.”
“Really? What is he like?”
“A straightforward guy, I guess.”
Haruka looks at me and says so. Haruka’s gaze caught mine and I couldn’t let it go. I can’t help but be aware of Haruka.
“Someone who is honest to the end, someone who runs with it.”
“I can see that. I know that kind of person makes me feel like I have to follow him”
“Maybe it was my maternal instinct that was aroused. I just can’t help but find him adorable.”
I turn my gaze away from Haruka and look obliquely upward.
“So, how are things going? How’s the response?”
“I’d like to say that there’s been some positive results, but so far it seems like it’s been a dud.”
Haruka doesn’t try to hide her feelings for me. From the looks of it, even Tachibana seems to have guessed that I’m the one Haruka likes.
“Well, I’ll take my time and attack carefully.”
“Kurosaki-senpai is a girl in love.”
Tachibana dyed her cheeks and covered her mouth with her hands.
“That’s lovely! I’m rooting for you, please do your best.”
“Thanks. I’ll do my best.”
Haruka’s story ends and the love banter comes to an end.
“How was it? Were you thrilled?”
“I was thrilled in a different way. Well, it was a good experience.”
“Well then, let’s go to bed.”
I got into the middle futon, and the girls used the futons on both sides. When I get into the futon, I feel the atmosphere of the girl next to me, and I get nervous.
“Let’s work hard on our writing tomorrow, shall we?”
Tachibana turns her back to me and closes her eyes. I also close my eyelids. The first day of the camp is over.
