The Case of My Childhood Friend Who Became a Very Popular Model and Came Back to Fulfill a Promise We Made When We Were Children
Suddenly I’m back in time 15 years ago, and Haruka is approaching me in front of me. Is this a different world line from my past?
Anyway, for some reason or other, Haruka favored me. But I have no intention of starting over. I’m just waiting for the same result.
“What’s wrong, you’re staring at me so intently.”
“No, it’s nothing.”
“You were just admiring my pretty face.”
Haruka had always been a confident person. I have to admit, the younger Haruka looks a lot younger. I know what Haruka will look like fifteen years from now, so I can’t help but notice the difference.
But I feel as if my brain has been buggy.
“So, Shinohara-kun, do you know this anime?”
“Hatsukoi is already dead. It’s a popular light novel. It’s a light novel, a youthful, tear-jerking kind of thing.”
“Heee. I’ve never read any light novels, but you like them?”
“Yeah, I do. I often read them.”
Haruka used to hate my hobbies. After we got married, she started watching anime occasionally, but she generally hated the creatures known as otaku.
Yet, in this world, Haruka is kind to anime. Needless to say, it took a lot of effort for me to get her into anime.
“Why did you turn down Hanyu’s offer earlier?”
“Ara, of course not. I decide for myself who I want to be friends with.”
“I’m not doing anything in particular to increase Kurosaki-san’s likability, though.”
“I know you very well. So it is natural for me to want to get along with you. You must be happy to be friends with me.”
In the past, I would have nodded my head in delight. But now I don’t want to be friends with Haruka.
“I want to know more about what Shinohara-kun likes. But, please, tell me about anime, novels, and all sorts of other things.”
“Are you serious?”
“I’m serious. Do you think I’m lying?”
I don’t think so. But Haruka always didn’t tell me the truth. She never lied, but she never told the truth either. Haruka was always dissatisfied with me. That dissatisfaction built up and suddenly exploded one day.
If she had told me when she felt dissatisfied, I would have improved. However, Haruka kept harping on about the past, and she was very insistent about it. I was so stressed by this that I sometimes raised my voice.
“Well, do you want to read the series I’m reading?”
“I want to read it! I want to know what Shinohara-kun likes!”
Haruka said with a bite in her voice. I looked at her in disbelief.
“Shinohara-kun, you can ask me more about mine.”
I know most things even if you say so. I’ve been with her for ten years. I know what I don’t like about Haruka. Why did I like this girl? I can’t remember now.
“Then what’s your blood type?”
“Guess.”
“AB, I guess.”
“Muu How did you know? I’d say the odds are against AB.”
“A hunch?”
“Does that mean I’m type-AB?”
Blue veins began to form on Haruka’s forehead. Would it have been better to just answer that she was type A, though?
No, if that meant Haruka’s likability for me went down, that would be perfect. I would just be removed from Haruka’s list of romantic interests.
“I thought Kurosaki-san was a bit strange. I just thought she was kind of AB-ish.”
“You’re right, but I’m shocked.”
Haruka slumped her shoulders and sighed.
“I’ll guess your blood type too, Shinohara-kun. You’re O”
“That’s great. You’re right.”
“I can tell by looking at you.”
I know it’s too late to say this, but when I did a blood type reading, I saw that AB and O were incompatible. I was very disappointed when I saw the result in the past.
But fortune-telling is just fortune-telling. Depending on the site, different results may be derived. But for me and Haruka, it turned out to be just like the fortune-telling result.
“According to my fortune-telling, type AB and type O are compatible with each other,”
“Is that so? I saw a site that said they are the worst match though”
Haruka’s cheeks puffed up. I inwardly stuck out my tongue and avoided Haruka’s approach.
“Shinohara-kun, you’re meaner than I thought.”
“I didn’t mean it that way.”
“You’re just like him.”
“Eh?”
“No, it’s nothing. Let’s talk about something more fun. Where do you want to meet for a movie?”
“Theaters are fine.”
“It’s so tasteless.”
Haruka’s lips twitched in frustration.
“That’s all right. I’ll meet you at the cinema at fourteen.”
“I think that’s fine.”
“I’m going to be really hyped for the day, so you’d better brace yourself.”
“Hyped?”
I wonder what it is. Maybe we are going to go to the movies or something?
Whatever it is, I don’t want any trouble.
“Because I know what you like.”
“Thank you.”
“Just watch me. I’ll make you fall in love with me all over again.”
For me, it’s impossible to fall in love with a girl who is much younger than me, but Haruka is very determined.
I agreed to go to the movies, but I might have to think about keeping my distance from her in the future.
I let out a sigh as I think about this. I’ve gone to the trouble of going back in time. This time, I want to be with someone I can spend the rest of my life with.
