When I Go Back in Time, My Ex-wife Is Making a Passionate Approach to Me, and I’m Having Trouble With It
I left Haruka and went home. I confided to Haruka that I was in a time leap. I don’t know if Haruka believed me or not, but on the surface she did.
I ruminate over what Haruka said to me.
[That future me is not the me of today. It’s me in another world, isn’t it? Besides, Shinohara-kun, you made a mistake once, so you can use your reflection.]
It is true that the Haruka I know from the past and the Haruka of this world are far apart. It is hard to believe that she likes me.
I don’t even know if the Haruka of the past liked me or not. Maybe she just went along with me because of my persistence. That is why I am puzzled by how different Haruka is in this world.
Haruka’s feelings were genuine. She really likes me. Because I could feel that, I knew I couldn’t do anything half-assed.
Haruka said she would wait until I graduated from high school. I have to come to a decision by then.
I soak in the bath and let my head cool down. I was not going to come to a conclusion.
The next day, when I arrived at school, I called out to Haruka, who was sitting next to me.
“Good morning, Haruka.”
“Good morning, Ryo.”
We called each other by our first names. The boys in my class changed color when they heard this. They came up to my desk and asked me if we had started dating.
“No, we are not dating. We’ve gotten to know each other.”
“That’s not fair. Why are you the only one?”
I don’t understand what he was talking about. I don’t understand why Haruka likes me either. I am the one who is most confused by Haruka’s attitude.
When I was at a loss for how to respond, Haruka interrupted me.
“Who I get along with is none of your business.”
“Ugh, but you know what? Shinohara is a very plain guy. I don’t think he matches up well with Kurosaki-san.”
“Ryo is good looking to me. You guys must be blind.”
“Good-looking?”
“I despise you if you disparage someone I love.”
“Love..”
Haruka declared clearly to the boys that she loved me. The boys flinched.
“I love Ryo. That’s all right. It’s none of your business.”
Haruka unusually strengthened her tone of voice and chastised the boys. The boys, as expected, could not say anything and left. All of our classmates who heard the commotion were paying attention to us. Everyone knew that I was the one Haruka liked.
“Hey, Haruka, that was a bad idea.”
“What? It was just a good opportunity.
I’m sick of other boys hitting on me too.”
Haruka is, and always has been, popular. That’s why I often saw boys coming on even when I was standing next to her like this. However, Haruka’s declaration will probably reduce the number of boys who come on to her from now on. Rumors will spread quickly, and the students in my class have already recognized me.
“I’ll be the center of attention from now on.”
“That’s fine. I told you. From now on, I’m going to be serious. I think it’s effective to fill in the outer moat.”
Haruka smiles seductively.
“Give me a break.”
I laugh and scratch my head.
“This will save us a lot of hassle.”
“I’m going to be sick to my stomach from now on.”
“Ara, then you really should go out with me.”
“I can’t do that yet.”
Haruka’s teasing left me feeling embarrassed. Since yesterday, Haruka has been treating me with a somewhat relieved attitude.
“Anyway, you’re going to club practice today, right?”
“Yeah. I’m going.”
“Then you’re going to start writing another long story today, right?
“Yes, that’s right. I can’t wait to write the next one.”
“Ryo’s novel is interesting and I want to read it as soon as possible.”
Haruka praises my novels. And yet, I don’t praise hers. If I could handle the pretense better, Haruka would be in a better mood.
“Haruka is going to write another mystery?”
“Yes. This time I’ll make you say I’m great.”
“You’re obsessed with me.”
“Of course I am. I’ll stick to you.”
Haruka’s obsession with me is astonishing. You don’t have to worry about my evaluation. It’s only an amateur’s evaluation.
“But Haruka is very ambitious, isn’t she? I didn’t get that impression.”
“Is that what you said about me when we were married?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. That’s right.”
“Maybe it’s because I have a goal now.”
“Goals?”
“Yeah. To make you say I’m great.”
Haruka looked straight at me and said that.
“Didn’t you have any goals like that before?”
“I’ve submitted to some newcomer awards and stuff.”
“You’ve submitted to the Newcomer’s Awards?”
“I did. The results were nothing though”
If Haruka’s novels are not doing well, then my novels are not even close to them.
I’m aiming to become a novelist in this world, but I’m going to have to work very hard to get that future. Luck will also play a big part, and having had the good fortune of a time leap, I may not have any luck left.
“I’ll keep putting out, though.”
“You don’t give up, do you?”
“Yeah. I’m not a quitter. Didn’t you know?”
Haruka smiled devilishly and pecked me on the cheek.
