When I Go Back in Time, My Ex-wife Is Making a Passionate Approach to Me, and I’m Having Trouble With It
It’s the first Monday of the week. I arrive at school and see Haruka sitting next to me.
“Good morning, Shinohara-kun.”
Haruka calls out to me casually.
“Good morning, Kurosaki-san.”
“Thanks for Saturday.”
Haruka’s words make the boys in the class perk up. I let out a sigh as I sit down and put my bag on the desk.
“I don’t like it when you talk about that kind of stuff at school though”
“What do you mean by that?”
“About me going out with Kurosaki-san.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want people to talk about it.”
Haruka is popular. Not just with her classmates, but with the boys all over the school. She’s nicknamed the “Execution Princess,” and if rumors spread that she went out with a boy on her day off, it would be terrible.
“You don’t have to worry about that. No one else has any say in who I’m close to.”
Haruka has a personality that won’t listen once she starts talking. I let out a sigh and got ready for class.
“Anyway, please don’t say too much about the other day at school.”
“I understand. By the way, Shinohara-kun, did you bring the recommended novels?”
“Yeah, I brought it. Here.”
I took out a paperback book from my bag and handed it to Haruka.
“I think it’s easy to read because it’s popular among girls too.”
“Hmmm, even girls read novels?”
“Of course they read them. There are some books for girls, too.”
“Thank you. I’ll look forward to reading it.”
With a carefree smile on her face, Haruka handled the paperback carefully. I was surprised at her every move. After we got married, Haruka looked at my books as if they were filthy. No matter how much I talked about the merits of novels, she never read a single one. I wondered what kind of change of heart it was that Haruka wanted to read it
But now that I have a second chance at life. I want to challenge myself to do something I didn’t do the first time. For starters, I want to be involved in club activities. In the first time, I was a homecoming club member and had a part-time job. The reason I had a part-time job was to buy a present for Haruka, but this time I don’t need to do that, so I don’t have to work part-time.
So I thought it would be fun to try my hand at club activities. When I was in high school, I was interested in a certain club activity. It was the literature club. I was interested in reading books and writing my own novels. In my first life, I got a regular job and gave up chasing my dream, but in this life, I want to chase my dream.
That dream is to become a novelist. I had never written a novel before, but the desire to give form to the stories in my head was swirling inside me.
“Shinohara-kun, do you do part-time work or something?”
Haruka suddenly asks me.
“No, I don’t think I should this time. I’m interested in club activities.”
“Club activities? Shinohara-kun?”
Haruka gives me a dubious look. If you know me well, you would be surprised to hear that I am going to join a club. I’ve never been good at socializing with others and have tended to avoid group activities like that. But I want to overcome this weakness in my second life.
“What kind of club do you think you’ll be in?”
“I’m interested in the Literature Club.”
“Literature club ……, I heard that there is only one member after the graduation of the senior class.”
“I’d be more interested in joining if that were the case.”
“The members of the literature club were all girls… It would be a bad idea to leave Ryo alone with the girls.”
Haruka was mumbling something.
“I’m in!”
“Eh? Kurosaki-san too?”
“I like books, and if I join, there will be three of us in the club.”
Haruka certainly read a lot of novels. She didn’t get into light novels, but I got the impression that she read a lot of general literature. She was probably saying she was joining because I was joining, but I had no reason to refuse.
“I’m grateful for your help. Then let’s go visit together after school today.”
Still, I don’t understand why Haruka from this era is interested in me. Haruka from this era shouldn’t have cared about me at all. I look at Haruka, confused by the difference in her life from the one I’ve lived.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
Haruka was smiling with a good mood.
After school, Haruka and I move to the third building where the club rooms of the Literature Club are located. This building is home to the club rooms of the cultural clubs, and although it is quiet, it is lively with people.
We open the sliding door to the second reference room, which is the club room of the Literature Club.
“Eh, Who are you?”
A girl sitting in front of us looks at us with a puzzled expression.
“We are here to observe the Literature and Art Club.”
“You’re here to observe? Please come in.”
The girl in the literature club hurriedly pulled out a chair and invited us in.
“I am the first year head of the club and my name is Tachibana Shiori.”
“I am Shinohara Ryo, a second-year student.”
“I’m Kurosaki Haruka, a second-year student.”
“Senpai? This is the first time I’ve had a visitor at the Literature Club. I’m really nervous.”
“I’m sorry to just show up here. I’d like to join the club if I can.”
“I’m glad to hear that. I am the only one in the literature club, so it would be great to have more friends.”
Tachibana was a girl with medium-length hair and dark circles under her eyes. She is a first-year student, so she still looks somewhat young.
“The Literature Club is basically a free-for-all. If you want to read a book, you read it; if you want to write, you write.”
“It’s easy to be free.”
“Then, why don’t you senpais do something today?”
Tachibana said so and we sat down on chairs.
