Episode 4 – Parting 2

Iโ€™m Tired of My Childhood Friend Playing Pranks on Me, so I Want to Date a Female Friend Who Loves Me Sincerely

Who in the world would feel happy about rejecting someone they like?

If you take a chance and confess your feelings, and then find out that the other person feels the same way and you start dating, isn’t it only natural to cherish that person for the rest of your life?

It seems that infidelity and adultery are on the rise these days. Why did those who commit adultery get married in the first place? In my opinion, marriage is about loving your partner for the rest of your life.

How can they have the time to fool around with others? If theyโ€™re going to do that, why not help out with the housework instead?

โ€œI have an excuse.โ€

โ€œAn excuse?โ€

Thereโ€™s no point in listening to excuses. In my mind, breaking up is a done deal, and my love has already cooled.

Really, why has she changed so much? As for Kagumo-san, wellโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll stop thinking about other people for now.

โ€œI was told that’s a way to confirm love with a friend.โ€

โ€œAre you kidding me? Is that a prank?โ€

โ€œโ€ฆโ€

โ€œAre you listening?โ€

โ€œYesโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHuh. That’s an unusual way to express love.โ€

Are pranks like ours popular among extroverts? If so, I can’t help but think Japan is in its final stages.

If it is popular and happens all the time, I think I’ll never understand the popular kids.

Someone like me, who’s not popular, is so happy just to have a girlfriend that I jump for joy and treat her with care.

โ€œI’m sorry.โ€

โ€œIf you’re sorry, why did you do it?โ€

The old Rika wouldn’t have done something like this. I’m not saying it’s bad to make new friends in high school.

I just hoped that Rika’s kind and cute personality wouldn’t change.

โ€œWell, whatever the reason, we’re breaking up. I’ll say it again, I’m tired.โ€

โ€œI’m sorry, so you’re breaking up?โ€

โ€œYeah, yeah, that’s enough.โ€

โ€œWho?โ€

Suddenly, Kagumo, who had been peeking in from outside the classroom, walked over with her smartphone in hand. She looked like she was up to something.

โ€œI’m Kagumo Nagiri. I’m Ayato-kun’s best friend.โ€

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

โ€œSince you still seem to like Ayato-kun, I’ll tell you this, but what is this photo?โ€

Kagumo-san operated her smartphone and showed the photo to Rika. She did it so that I couldn’t see it.

โ€œThis isโ€ฆโ€

โ€œIf you don’t want Ayato to see it, then break up with him quickly. You’re just a hindrance to Ayato, aren’t you?โ€

Kagumo-san’s face was smiling as she said this, but her eyes weren’t smiling.

I don’t know what kind of photo she showed her, but it must have been something disadvantageous to Rika.

โ€œGo away quickly. I’ll make Ayato kun happy.โ€

โ€œI will never give up. Ayato kun is my boyfriend.โ€

โ€œHuh, she finally left. Come on, Ayato kun, let’s go home.โ€

โ€œOh, okay.โ€

Rika said she wouldn’t give up. It doesn’t matter whether Rika gives up or not. We’ll never date again, so we’re just back to where we were before we started dating.

I didn’t start hating Rika. I just can’t see her as a romantic partner anymore. If we can stay friends like we always have, that’s fine with me.

โ€œWhy did you come out? We agreed you wouldn’t.โ€

I ask Kagumo-san as we walk down the hallway. She was staring at me seriously until then.

โ€œI’m a girl, right?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œThat’s why.โ€

โ€œThat’s why what?โ€

โ€œNo, it’s because I am a girl.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆ?โ€

Did she come out because she’s a girl? I don’t understand.

โ€œIt’s okay. Ayato kun, just stay pure.โ€
