“Did I sleep that long? How much did I sleep?”

I muttered that when I woke up.

As for the fever… it seems I still have a bit, but my body feels considerably better.

At this rate, I should be able to go to school tomorrow or the day after.

“Wait, what about this…”

Then I noticed something: a cold fever sheet was stuck to my forehead.

My house didn’t keep these things stocked, and I definitely hadn’t put it on before sleeping, so I must have just fallen asleep with it. But the fact it’s on my forehead means…

“That means everyone must have already come, right?”

Thinking that, I grabbed my nearby smartphone to check the time. Nearly two hours had passed since school ended.

Knowing Kana, it was easy to imagine she’d rushed over right after school. The three of them must have arrived at my place quite a while ago.

Still, I’d fallen asleep in the morning. I’d slept longer than I thought… While my body felt a bit better thanks to it, I also felt a little bad for the three who came.

They must have come over, found me asleep, stuck this on me, and then left. They said they’d buy drinks too, so I should check the fridge later.

I really need to send them a proper message later to thank them.

“Man, I’m soaked in sweat.”

I got out of bed and checked my clothes. They were clammy with sweat and felt kinda gross.

I could take a shower, but for now, just changing clothes will do.

I’m hungry and thirsty too, so I’ll take care of those first before showering. I also want to get my thanks to the three of them out of the way soon.

Just as I thought that and started taking towels and a change of clothes out of the closet, beginning to undress my upper body…

That’s the sound the door made as it opened.

“Hey, Kana, open it more quietly!”

“Oh, right…”

“Your voices are louder… Calm down, both of you.”

Just as I heard that hushed exchange, the three who entered made eye contact with me. Of course, those people were Kana, Miku, and Saki.

And since I was shirtless, Miku and Saki seemed a bit flustered.

Seeing them like that, I said for the time being.

“Um, thanks for coming, all three of you.”

“Ah! Seito-senpai, you’re awake! How are you feeling?”

Unlike the other two, Kana, operating as usual, asked cheerfully.

“I slept a lot, so I feel much better. Having you three come and check on me probably helped too. Thanks.”

“That’s great to hear! But it’s only natural we came!! We’d never not come if something happened to you, Seito-senpai!!!”

While we were saying that, Miku and Saki, looking a bit embarrassed, glanced at me and spoke up.

“Um, well… that’s nice, but you should really change clothes first…”

“Yeah… If you stay like that, your cold will just get worse…”

“We’ll be out here…”

“Let us know when you’re done changing…”

“Come on, Kana, let’s go.”

“Huh? I don’t really need to…”

“Just come!”

“Okay.”

Saying that, Miku took Kana with her, and the three of them headed out into the hallway.

“I’d better get changed quickly.”

After that, I started changing while drying myself off with a towel.

◇

――Having finished changing, I promptly stepped out into the hallway and called out.

“I’m done changing.”

“Okay. Here then.”

Saying that, Miku handed me a sports drink she must have just brought.

“You bought this for me? Thanks, this is a big help.”

“It’s fine, no big deal.”

“Seito-senpai! I’ll take your changed clothes to the washing machine!”

“Huh? Oh, I’ll handle that myself. I’m pretty sweaty.”

“No way! Seito-senpai, you should rest a bit longer. We’ll take care of everything! And since there seems to be laundry piling up, we’ll get that going too.”

“Eh, ah, yeah…”

Kana said that and walked off carrying the changed clothes I’d been holding.

My sweat was soaked into them, so I felt a little weird about it, but if Kana insists that much, maybe it’s fine not to worry?

By the way, what happened to Saki? She was here before I changed, but I haven’t seen her since opening the door.

“Um, so where did Saki go?”

“Saki thought you might be hungry, so she went to make udon. Kana and Saki played rock-paper-scissors, and Saki won, so that’s how it happened.”

“That’s really kind of her. I was pretty hungry.”

“Anyway, that’s the situation. You should rest in your room, Seito.”

As she said that, she pushed me gently, and I was sent back to my room—

“But wait, Saki can cook too?”

I sat on the bed while Miku sat in a chair, and we talked.

“Yes. Both Saki and Kana are great cooks. I’m hopeless in the kitchen, so I really think it’s amazing.”

“I see. Kana’s cooking was definitely incredible, and if Miku says so, Saki must be really good too. Personally, I’d be fine with just heating up stuff from the convenience store, but I’m really grateful she makes meals for us.”

“You should tell Saki that. I think she’d be really happy. Both Kana and Saki said they wanted to cook since they had the chance.”

I get why Kana would say that, but Saki said it too… That makes me happy.
Like Miku said, I should properly thank her later.

“Yeah, you’re right. Speaking of which, how long have you been at my place?”

“Before that, are you okay having this conversation? How’s your health? You can lie down if you want?”

Miku asked, looking a little worried.

“I’m fine. I’m feeling much better, and since I’ve been lying down for so long, this position is actually more comfortable now.”

“Oh, good. So, about when we arrived?”

“Yeah, yeah. I think I was asleep for quite a while, but I was wondering…”

“Well, let’s see. Right after school ended, Kana told me to gather at the entrance immediately!!! So I rushed over. Probably about an hour and a half ago?”

So that’s how it was.

“I’m sorry you had to rush over…”

“There’s nothing to apologize for! If sleeping made you feel better, that’s the best thing. And… I want you to come to school soon…”

Miku said this clearly, though she was blushing.

Both Miku and Saki saying things like this now makes me really happy.

“Thanks so much. I’ll do my best to get better quickly so I can see you and the others at school.”

“Y-yeah… Well, it looks like we’re out of drinks. I’ll go get some. You were sweating, so you must be thirsty.”

When I said that, Miku changed the subject, looking embarrassed.

“Well then, I’ll leave that to you.”

“Sure. I’ll check on Kana and Saki while I’m at it.”

Miku said that and left the room.

“Somehow, today I’ve been relying on all three of you, but this isn’t so bad…”

Until now, it was often “For the sake of the three of them!” But lately, I find myself thinking about leaning on them more often. It’s something I never could have imagined in my past life.

Part of it is that I genuinely trust them now, but it’s thanks to Kana, Mikku, and Saki who made me feel that way. I’m truly grateful…

After all, they came here for me today too.

Thinking about that, I felt once again how glad I was that we’d become such good friends.
