I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life
“It took longer than I expected…”
After school, I was talking with my teacher and ended up leaving a little late.
Since I had been coming to school every day recently, I ended up talking with the head teacher and my homeroom teacher, but to be honest, I felt a little sorry about it.
Apparently, back when I was in middle school, I caused a lot of trouble for the teachers, even in ways I don’t remember.
I ignored them when they called out to me, and I never even submitted my assignments.
It seems I did all sorts of other things as well.
When I told the teachers that I was going to change my ways and start taking things seriously, their faces clearly showed how surprised they were.
I never expected them to be that shocked.
“Well, it can’t be helped.”
I was able to apologize properly, and from now on, I’ll just have to earn their trust.
It’s fine as long as I live a normal life.
“Still, it came out of nowhere…”
The weather forecast said it might rain today, but it started pouring so suddenly.
It wasn’t raining at all 30 minutes ago.
Well, I brought an umbrella, so it’s not a problem.
Thinking that, I opened the umbrella I had brought and was about to leave, but I noticed Hiiragi Saki standing in front of the entrance.
Come to think of it, she’s a member of the library committee, and the announcement said there was a meeting today, so that’s probably why she’s alone, but what’s wrong? Did she forget her umbrella?
Should I not say anything, given her personality? I thought, but she clearly looked troubled, so I decided to talk to her.
It would feel bad to just ignore her.
“You look troubled. What’s wrong? Um… You’re Hiiragi Saki, right?”
When I spoke to her, Saki turned toward me and looked surprised.
“Ah, um… It’s okay, don’t worry about it.”
“Do you maybe not have an umbrella?”
Saki spoke in a voice so soft it was almost drowned out by the sound of the rain, and when I asked her that, she nodded slightly.
“Well, here, take this.”
I said that and handed her my umbrella.
“What? But then what about you, Kisaragi-kun…?”
“It’s okay, it’s okay. See you tomorrow.”
I handed her the umbrella and went home.
◇
When I got home, I quickly took a bath and then rested.
I could have stopped by a convenience store on the way home to buy an umbrella, but by that time I was already soaked, so I figured it wouldn’t make any difference and went home as I was.
If it hadn’t been Saki, I might have suggested sharing an umbrella to the convenience store, but with Saki, it’s too difficult.
Given her personality, it’s impossible to imagine her sharing an umbrella with someone she’s talking to for the first time, especially someone of the opposite sex.
I handed her the umbrella and left, but I thought that was the best thing to do.
I could see that she would be flustered if I offered to lend her mine.
If that was going to happen, it was better to leave the scene like that beforehand.
If she got flustered and confused, it would make both her and me feel awkward.
Then, while I was at home, I got a call from Kana in the evening.
“Seito-senpai!!! Is now a good time?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“Saki just contacted me and asked for your contact information. Is that okay?”
I see… The fact that she contacted me at night means that she was unsure what to do until then.
It’s embarrassing, but I feel like I have to say thank you.
It’s okay, don’t worry about it.
“It’s fine.”
“Okay! Did something happen with Saki nee?”
“Nothing really happened, I just lent her my umbrella after school today. I think that’s what it’s about.”
“Huh? Saki nee forgot her umbrella? That’s unusual.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. Saki nee and Miku nee are usually very careful about that kind of thing.”
“I see. Well, I’m glad I was able to lend it to her, even if it was just by chance.”
“Are you okay, Seito-senpai?”
“I’m fine. It’s no big deal if I got a little wet.”
“It wasn’t just a little rain… You’re really kind, Seito-senpai.”
“It’s just a whim, a whim.”
“Well, let’s just leave it at that. I’ll send Saki-nee your contact information now!”
“Alright.”
Then, I immediately received a message from Saki.
“Um… Thank you for today. Were you okay getting home in the rain?”
“I’m fine. Are you okay?”
“Yes. Kisaragi-kun lent me his umbrella…”
“I see. I’m glad to hear that.”
“I’ll bring the umbrella back tomorrow.”
“Okay. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
That was the end of the conversation.
“She’s surprisingly normal…”
I thought she would be more flustered, but… well, it was just a chat, so I guess that’s how it goes.
And so, the day ended.
◇
The next morning, when I went to school as usual, she was standing in front of the entrance just like yesterday, and when I approached her, she spoke to me.
“Um… Kisaragi-kun…”
“Hiiragi, good morning.”
“Good morning… Kisaragi-kun. Thank you for yesterday. You saved me.”
Her voice was as soft as ever, but she handed me the umbrella as she said that.
“I’m glad I could help. Don’t forget it in the future.”
“U, um… Well, I’m going to class now.”
“Oh, thank you for coming all this way.”
Saki bowed her head and said, then ran off.
There was no need to think about why she waited for me in front of the school building.
Probably, like Kana, it was to avoid unnecessary trouble with Nanashima.
…That said, other people saw us, but she just returned my umbrella, so maybe it’s not something to worry about.
Even so, Saki was just as I had imagined.
Our eyes met once, but she quickly looked away, and she seemed pretty embarrassed. Her face was a little red, and she looked nervous.
But I was surprised that she didn’t seem to be afraid of me.
I think it’s because Kana told her about our relationship, but anyway, I’m glad about that.
“Well, never mind. I’m going to class.”
