“Thirty minutes early…”

Sunday, 11:30 AM.

Today, at Kana’s suggestion, the four of us—Kana, Miku, Saki, and me—were supposed to hang out, so I headed to the meeting spot 30 minutes early.

It’s different when it’s just Kana and me on a date. Hanging out with all four of us… well, actually, it’s my first time hanging out with Miku and Saki, so I feel a bit nervous, or maybe just weird, but I’m looking forward to it.

“Wait, am I the last one here…?”

When I arrived at the meeting spot, the other three were already there, chatting and waiting.

Kana was wearing what she’d called her favorite outfit, the one she’d worn on our date, and she looked incredibly cute as always.

I’m not really into fashion, so I don’t know much about clothing styles, but I thought both Mikku and Saki looked really good and cute too.

I mean, I knew it, but wow, those three together are something else…

They all have long legs and pretty faces, so they really stand out compared to everyone else around. In fact, passersby, both guys and girls, were doing double takes or staring.

Well, if I didn’t know them and just walked by, I’d probably react the same way, so it’s only natural.

“Good morning, Kana, Suzukaze, Hiiragi. Did you guys wait long?”

“Seito-senpai!! Not at all!! We just got here too!!!”

“That’s right. We just arrived a moment ago.”

“Yeah. About five minutes ago, I think.”

“Well, that’s good then.”

“More importantly, Seito-senpai?”

Kana said this with a smirk.

“What is it?”

“How do we look today?”

She never usually asks that, so it’s unusual today.

Wait, “us” means Miku and Saki too?

“Um… well. Kana always says it, but you’re super stylish and cute. And Suzukaze and Hiiragi look great together too, really cute.”

“S-s-such things should only be said to Kana…”

“Y-y-yeah…”

When I said that, both Miku and Saki flushed and said that.

It was what I genuinely thought, but it kinda felt like Kana made me say it. Wait, was that okay? I looked at Kana, and she was smiling brightly and seemed happy, so I guess it was fine.

“Alright then, everyone! Let’s go!”

“Yeah.”

“Y-yeah…”

“U-uh-huh…”

◇

We walked and talked.

“Still, the three of you together really draw attention… Like just now when I came over, everyone was looking at us. Well, I guess it happens when you are alone too, but it’s especially bad when you are together, right?”

“Hmm? Really? I don’t really notice it myself?”

“Well, Kana probably wouldn’t care. But it’s true that when the three of us are together, we get noticed.”

“Yeah. It’s been like that since middle school…”

Yeah, that’s true… Wait, Kana really doesn’t care?

“Seems kind of tough…”

“Hmm, I don’t mind it… Oh! But then, isn’t it the same for Seito-senpai?”

“Well, I suppose that’s true.”

“Yeah. Kisaragi-kun seems to get attention too, right?”

Getting attention is probably somewhat true, but how does it compare to the three of them?

At school, I don’t think it’s the same kind of consideration, but when I go out, I definitely feel like I’m being watched.

That said, it’s definitely not as much as those three earlier. I’m with Kana more than I’m alone, after all.

“That might be true, but probably not as much as you three?”

“Huh? That’s surprising. Even though there’s no one cooler than you, Seito-senpai? Don’t you two agree?”

““Yeah… (Yeah…)””

After saying that, the two of them gradually started blushing.

“N-no, that’s not it, Kisaragi? I-I just agreed that it was surprising!”

“I-I-I did too…”

They both hurriedly said this to me.

I get that… but aren’t you two overreacting?

“Hehehe, you two are overreacting.”

“Well, it started because Kana phrased it weirdly…”

“Y-yeah, Kana-chan…”

“I just said what I thought!”

After that, we headed to karaoke while continuing that kind of conversation.

◇

“So, who’s singing first!? Is it okay if I go?”

Kana said that immediately after entering the karaoke booth.

Yeah. I kinda hated going first too, so this is a relief.

“Kana always goes first, so I’m fine with it.”

“I’m fine too.”

“Me too, of course.”

“Alright then, I guess I’ll start with this one!”

With that, Kana started singing a song I vaguely recognized.

I’m pretty sure it was the theme song for some drama, and it was super popular recently.

It had a great tempo, perfect for getting the party started.

But seriously…

“Kana, aren’t you way too good at this?!”

I muttered that because Kana was way better than I’d imagined.

If Saki had a beautiful, crystal-clear voice, Kana’s was cute and idol-like. It was so Kana and incredibly adorable.

“Kana is good, you know.”

“Yeah. I like Kana-chan’s singing too.”

“Yeah… I like it too…”

Kana often hangs out with Miku and Saki, but of course she also interacts with her classmates.

Kana said she’s been to karaoke many times with her girlfriends, so compared to Miku and Saki, she goes a lot more often and is probably used to singing.

Honestly, when I compare her to Saki, I do think Saki is better, but Kana is still incredibly good.

“Yay! Thanks, everyone!”

Kana’s score was… 96 points.

Wow, that’s high! Hearing her sing earlier made it understandable, but I honestly didn’t expect her to be this good.

“Kana’s seriously amazing…”

“Ehehe, thank you. I’m not quite as good as Saki-nee, but I do come to karaoke often with the girls in my class, so I get lots of chances to sing!”

“No way, Kana-chan. You’re really good!”

“Yeah, I think she’s really good too.”

“Thanks, you two! So next… Miku-nee, wanna give it a shot?”

“I guess we should.”

With that, Miku selected a song.

The song Miku chose was… surprisingly, a Vocaloid song.

It was a song I liked too, known for its cool low tones, one that often popped up on video sites.

Miku’s normal voice isn’t particularly low, but her singing voice was incredibly cool, resonating with deep, low tones.

The occasional growl was just too cool.

“Miku-nee’s singing voice is seriously cool, right?”

“It really is.”

“Yeah… Honestly, I’m kinda intimidated by Kana too, but Suzukaze as well…”

Seriously intimidated… It goes without saying that Saki was good, but these two are good too…? This kinda makes me feel like singing is harder now.

“Huu…”

And so, Miku finished singing, but her score was once again 96 points.
Yeah. I knew it would be, given how perfectly in tune and skilled she was.

“Suzukaze is super skilled too… That was seriously cool.”
“Y-Yeah… Thanks.”
“Seriously, Miku-nee’s singing voice is so cool.”

“I’m jealous of your voice too, Miku-chan.”

“What are you talking about? If anything, I’m jealous of both of your voices! Especially Saki’s—it’s so beautiful and clear, right?”

“Well, Saki-nee is in a league of her own. So, should we go with Saki-nee next?”

“Yeah, that sounds good. Should we? Are you okay with that, Kisaragi-kun?”

“Huh? Ah, yeah, sure.”

I was so surprised by how amazing they both were that I just went with the flow and agreed…

Huh? I’m singing after Saki??? That raises the bar way too high.

“Well then, I guess I’ll go with this one.”

With that, the song Saki chose was the very first one she ever uploaded to the video site.

It was a song that perfectly suited her crystal-clear voice, an older song that was still loved by many people even now. Of course, it’s one of my favorites too.

This was actually the first time I’d heard it live, and honestly, hearing it this close up was kind of moving.

At first, I listened because it was Saki, but soon I fell for the voice of Himesaki Ruruka herself and became a fan. For me, this was an unbelievable reward.

I felt a little bad for the other fans, but I was going to savor this moment…

“She really is amazing…”

“Yeah…”

“Mm…”

Kana, Miku, and I were all completely absorbed in Saki’s singing.

And then Saki finished singing.

“Saki, man, she’s seriously amazing! She’s so good, it’s no wonder she’s popular.”

“Yeah. I don’t think I’m bad myself, but hearing Saki sing, it’s just different, isn’t it?”

“Mm… It was really wonderful…”

“Thanks, everyone.”

As for the score… 99 points. Almost max.

I knew she was good, so the score itself wasn’t surprising, but the feeling it gave me was incredible.

“Come to think of it, this is the first time you’ve heard Saki sing live, right, Seito-senpai?”

“That’s true.”

“What did you think?”

“What did I think… Well, I’m incredibly happy I got to hear it. I was genuinely moved.”

“R-really?”

When I said that, Saki looked embarrassed.

“Yeah, really. Sorry to the other fans, but it was the kind of performance I could listen to forever. She was seriously amazing.”

“I-I see… Thank you, Kisaragi-kun.”

“Alright! Next up is Seito-senpai!”

“Eh? Ah, ah…”

My emotions were pulled back to reality by that one word.

After these three… Maybe I should’ve gone first after all?

I felt a slight pang of regret.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. Well, guess it’s my turn then…”

And so, feeling nervous, I selected my song.
