Episode 83 – Playing with Miku (First Part)

I, Who Was Reincarnated as an Evil Character With Cheat-Level Stats in an Eroge, Will Live Freely in This Life

โ€œAlright, looks like Miku hasn’t shown up yet.โ€

It was Saturday afternoon, and I’d agreed to hang out with Miku, so I’d arrived at the meeting spot a little early.

My goal for today was obviously to hang out with Miku, but since I’d become lovers with Kana and Saki, I also wanted to confess my feelings to Miku.

Miku seemed bothered that she was the only one left outโ€ฆ She didn’t show it much, but I could tellโ€ฆ Actually, Kana and Saki knew too. Today was probably the best day to confess my feelings.

But even though I knew this confession would succeed nine times out of tenโ€”no, almost certainly succeedโ€”I still felt a little nervous. I was nervous when it came to Saki too, after allโ€ฆ It was going to be an important day, so maybe it was only natural.

You never really get used to this sort of thingโ€ฆ

So, about today’s plans. Before the confession business, I wanted to make Miku happy and enjoy myself too, so I talked it over with Kana and Saki and put a lot of thought into what to do. It’s such an important day, it’d be a waste not to enjoy it together.

Well, โ€œconsultedโ€ is a bit muchโ€”it was more like I asked her in detail what she likes. From the things she mentioned, the idea that came to mind was a cat cafe. There were other ideas too, but in the end, that seemed like the best one.

This is something even I, who played the game, didn’t know: Miku apparently loves animals, especially cats.

Kana and Saki said Miku herself hides it because she finds it a bit embarrassing, but she saves cat pictures in her photo folder and often watches cat videos on streaming sites.

According to Kana and Saki, only Miku’s family, Kana, and Saki know about this, but they decided it was okay to tell me.

We talked about it, the three of us, and agreed that if it ever became a problem, I’d apologize tooโ€ฆ I doubt it will be, though.

Speaking of which, I remember that time Miku held her umbrella over a cat in the rain, getting completely soaked herself while worrying about the cat.

Meowing awayโ€ฆ At the time, I was too surprised to think about it, but looking back, Miku was seriously cute thenโ€ฆ Not that she isn’t cute normally, but that gap made it even more so.

To be honest, I chose the cat cafe partly to make Miku happy, but also partly hoping to see her like that again.

Anyway, that’s the gist of it. So, having learned Miku loves cats, I picked the cat cafe.

As for what to wear, I thought I should probably tell her to wear something that won’t get covered in cat hair. I debated telling Miku beforehand, but since Kana and Saki said they’d handle that part, I ended up keeping it a secret from Miku until today.

Anyway, the confession is one thing, but before that, I just want to enjoy myself with Miku. It’d be a waste if we didn’t both have fun.

Just as I was thinking that, Miku arrived looking perfectly casual yet incredibly mature.

I’d seen Miku in her regular clothes many times before, but today’s outfit was new to me. It suited her great figure perfectly and looked adorable.

โ€œS-sorry to keep you waitingโ€ฆ Seitoโ€ฆ Was I a little lateโ€ฆ?โ€

โ€œNot at all. It’s not even the meeting time yet. I just got here way too early myself. I mean, I practically just arrived.โ€

โ€œI-is that soโ€ฆโ€

Today, Miku seemed a bit subdued, not as confident as usual, giving off a slightly shy vibe.

Well, it was our first time going out alone together on a holiday, so she’d be nervous.

I thought maybe I should ease her tension little by littleโ€ฆ but I had to say what I wanted to say.

With that thought, I spoke up.

โ€œThat said, I’ve never seen you in that outfit before. It really suits youโ€”you look so stylish and mature. It’s great. You look really cute.โ€

When I said that, Mikku flushed and looked away.

โ€œY-yeahโ€ฆ thanksโ€ฆ Seito, y-you lookโ€ฆ cool tooโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHaha, thanks. But since we’re here, look me in the eyes when you say it.โ€

โ€œShut upโ€ฆ Don’t make me say it againโ€ฆโ€

When I teased her a little like that, Miku said it shyly.

โ€œJust kidding. I’m just super happy I got to hear that from you.โ€

โ€œEnough about that alreadyโ€ฆ So, where are we going today anywayโ€ฆโ€

Miku said this, perhaps to change the subject out of embarrassment, but that part would be a surprise once we got there.

โ€œThat’ll be a surprise later. Come on, let’s go.โ€

I said that and held out my hand to Miku. She looked at my hand for a few seconds, then said, โ€œAlrightโ€ฆ fine,โ€ took my hand, and we started walking together.

โ—‡

โ€œAlright! This is the place.โ€

After walking for a few minutes, Miku and I arrived at our destination.

Since it was close to where we met up, we didn’t talk much on the way. Well, we were holding hands, and Miku seemed a bit embarrassed, so maybe it was better that it was close.

โ€œThis place isโ€ฆโ€

โ€œA cat cafe.โ€

โ€œHuh, a cat cafeโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYeah, a cat cafe. Have you ever been to one, Miku?โ€

When I mentioned the cat cafe, Mikku, who’d been walking shyly, suddenly widened her eyes and looked delighted. โ€ฆOr so I thought, but when I asked her a question, her expression reverted to her usual self.

โ€œNo, I haven’tโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWell then, Miku, what about cats? Do you like them?โ€

โ€œI-I guess I like them normallyโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI see. Just checking, but do you dislike cat cafes or anything?โ€

โ€œI-I don’t dislike them. S-Since Seito thought of this, I wouldn’t say I dislike it, right?โ€

When I asked that, Miku snapped back.

No matter what she says, judging by this reaction, she really wants to go.

I mean, liking cats isn’t something to be ashamed of, but for some reason she seems to be trying to hide it. I don’t know why, but seeing her like this is cute. So maybe I shouldn’t tell Kana or Saki about it just yet.

It’s the first time I’ve seen Miku’s expression change so quickly, and I kinda want to see how she reacts a little longer.

โ€œWell then, shall we go in?โ€

โ€œY-yeahโ€ฆโ€

And so, Miku and I entered the cat cafe.
