โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆ.โ€
โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆ.โ€
โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆ.โ€

Saki, Kana, and I are having a study session at my house, but what is going on here?

Saki naturally feels this sense of unease as well, and she and I exchange glances.

Kana, who usually hates studying, is concentrating on her work today without us saying anything.

When asked, Saki and I teach her, but other than that, neither of us talks and we just study, which is not how it usually is.

Usually, when Kana’s concentration wanes, we take a short break and then resume, or we encourage her to keep studying.

Also, Kana is rarely quiet while studying. She usually says things like, โ€œI don’t get it,โ€ or โ€œThis is hard,โ€ or mumbles to herself.

For Kana to concentrate silently for two hours since the study session began is, to be honest, abnormal for me and Saki.

I was a little worried, so I touched Kana’s forehead.

โ€œWhat’s wrong, Miku-nee?โ€

โ€œNothingโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI’m glad to hear that.โ€

Kana said only that and returned her eyes to the printout.

ใ€€
Seeing Kana like that, I took out my smartphone and sent a message to Saki.

โ€œWhat’s really going on here?โ€

โ€œI don’t know. I’m really surprised too.โ€

โ€œYeah. By the way, she didn’t seem to have a fever.โ€

โ€œReally? What’s going on with her? It’s good that she’s concentrating on her studies, but it’s a little worrying, isn’t it?โ€

In fact, Saki and I were so shocked by Kana’s unusual behavior that we couldn’t concentrate on our studies either.

โ€œYeahโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWe can’t concentrate either, so maybe we should just ask her directly? We want to help her if we can.โ€

โ€œLet’s do that. I’ll ask her.โ€

โ€œOkay. Please do, Miku-chan.โ€

After finishing that conversation with Saki, I put down my phone and immediately approached Kana.

โ€œKana?โ€

โ€œHuh? What’s wrong, Miku-nee?โ€

โ€œI’ll be blunt, but did something happen?โ€

When I asked her that, Kana blushed and started fidgeting.

โ€œN-n-nothing happened??? What’s wrong all of a sudden???โ€

Seeing Kana’s flustered state, it was obvious that something had happened. It was too obvious.

โ€œAre you sure?โ€

โ€œKana-chan? If you have any worries, you can talk to us about them.โ€

โ€œI’m fine! Really!โ€

โ€œThen why are you concentrating so hard on your studies? I’m not making fun of you, but you don’t usually concentrate this hard. You’d talk more, too.โ€

When I said that, Saki nodded in agreement.

As for Kana, she was still blushing and flustered.

After about 30 seconds of silence between me and Saki, Kana said in a small voice.

โ€œโ€ฆI guess I should tell you twoโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSo something did happen?โ€

โ€œIs that right, Kana-chan?โ€

When we said that, Kana nodded slightly and said.

โ€œI like Seito-senpaiโ€ฆโ€

“โ€œโ€ฆโ€”

Saki and I were speechless at her words.

The reason we were speechless was not because we were surprised to hear that Kana liked Kisaragi. No, of course we were surprised to hear those words come out of Kana’s mouth, but Saki and I had somehow known that Kana liked Kisaragi, so we weren’t too surprised about that.

To be honest, since we had always been together since we were little, there was no way I couldn’t notice that something was clearly different when Kana talked about Kisaragi or followed him with her eyes.

Those eyes were in loveโ€ฆ That’s how it seemed to me.

I hadn’t discussed it with Saki, but I think she probably felt the same way.

Kana had always been unable to hide anything from me and Saki.

The reason I didn’t say anything was simply because I didn’t know how to respond.

Then Saki said,

โ€œIs that really true, Kana-chan?โ€

โ€œYesโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSo that’s how it isโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSo that’s how it wasโ€ฆโ€

We’ve hardly ever talked about love among ourselvesโ€ฆ no, I should say we’ve never talked about it at all.

The only thing I remember is that when I was in the second year of junior high school, Kana asked me if I had ever been in love.

At that time, as I told Kisaragi, it had been less than a year since that incident happened.

I don’t remember exactly what I said, but I think I was quite negative about love.

To be honest, I didn’t want to think about love at that time. I wasn’t interested in boys, and I really didn’t care. I felt that much aversion toward it.

The only person I had any connection with, Tsubasa, wasn’t an object of love eitherโ€”he was just a childhood friend. It was only because we’d been together since childhood that I didn’t feel any aversion toward him; it wasn’t something that could be called love.

We were close as families, and he was just Kana’s stepbrother and a childhood friend.

Well, maybe the fact that Kana and Tsubasa’s mothers had asked me to take care of them was a big reason too.

And this is what I remember: I was trying to tell her that love was pointless, so that pure Kana wouldn’t fall for some strange man.

I remember thinking about that as I spoke.

When I was thinking about such things, Kana spoke up.

โ€œWhat do you two think?โ€

โ€œ”Huh?โ€”

At Kana’s question, Saki and I both let out such a pathetic sound together.

โ€œWhat do you think?โ€

โ€œSince it’s the two of you, I think you’d be really worried if I found someone I likedโ€ฆโ€

That’s definitely true, butโ€ฆ

โ€œI think Kisaragi would be fine.โ€

โ€œYeah, I think so too.โ€

โ€œWhat? Really?โ€

I was a little surprised that Saki thought so, but there are various reasons why I think so.

Kisaragi saved me. Both physically and emotionally. Since then, I have completely accepted Kisaragi.

From my perspective, he is reliable and completely different from other men.

In fact, since that incident, we have been in frequent contact.

I don’t really understand Kisaragi, but he often worries about me, and actually, I don’t mind that.

Well, I know it’s because I never relied on anyone, but because of that, I rarely had anyone to worry about meโ€ฆ

Now that I’ve been able to move forward in many ways, I’m happy when people worry about me, or rather, it makes me feel a little embarrassed, and in that sense, I feel more at ease.

I also think that Kisaragi Seito is similar to Kana.

When I’m with him, I naturally feel calm and warmโ€ฆ I feel like he’s that kind of person.

I also quite like talking with Kisaragi.

And this is the most important reason.

It’s because Kana talks about Kisaragi with such a big smile on her face.

To be honest, that alone is enough to make me think Kisaragi is no good! It’s so hard to say thatโ€ฆ There’s no way I could deny Kana when she talks so happily.

Considering all of that, I think Kisaragi can make Kana happy. That’s what I think.

Come to think of it, this is a good opportunity and a good timingโ€ฆ

I can talk about why I think Kisaragi is a good guy.

โ€œThe reason isโ€ฆ This is a good opportunity for the two of you, so I have a lot to talk about. Would you listen to me?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œOf course, it’s okay.โ€

โ€œActually, Iโ€ฆโ€

Then I told them about my past, which I hadn’t been able to tell them, and how Kisaragi had helped me and changed my way of thinking.

โ€œโ€ฆ โ€

When I finished talking, they both started crying softly.

โ€œI’m sorry, Miku-chanโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI’m sorryโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhy are you apologizing?โ€

โ€œB-but, I didn’t know anythingโ€ฆโ€

Saki said that, and Kana cried even more and couldn’t speak.

But I understood what they wanted to say.

I think they wanted to say, โ€œI’m sorry I couldn’t help you when you were suffering because I didn’t know anything.โ€

But that apology is unjustified. It’s my fault for not confiding in them, and it’s my fault for hiding it because I was convinced of it myself.

โ€œThere’s no reason to apologizeโ€ฆ As I said earlier, I’ve already moved on and cut ties with that past.โ€

โ€œSniffโ€ฆ Miku-chanโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWaaaaaah!โ€

When I said that, the two of them hugged me and continued crying for a while.

(I really have such good friendsโ€ฆ) I murmured that to myself, but I was about to cry along with them.
